I am a physician specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of work-related diseases. These are medical conditions that are caused, or that are made worse, by the type of work the patient does. They can affect many different parts of the body and can be caused directly by the type of substances the person is working with or by the processes involved in the job the person is doing. Most of the time these illnesses take time to produce symptoms and it is usually the patient who first makes the connection between the exposure at work and the medical condition. Some of these diseases include asbestosis, silicosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, asthma, and others. I have particular interest in conditions that affect the lungs. Patients made ill by their job are entitled to special medical benefits covered under Workers' Compensation.
