The Greater Gadsden Area and Etowah County are unsurpassed in natural beauty! The majestic Coosa River flows through the very heart of Gadsden as well as four other communities in the county: Hokes Bluff, Glencoe, Rainbow City and Southside. The Coosa River and H. Neely Henry Lake are home to regional championship fishing tournaments as well as being used for recreational boating, kayaking, and fishing. Noccalula Falls, a 90-foot waterfall named after legend of Princess Noccalula, sits inside the Gadsden City limits on Lookout Mountain. Both a scenic Park and Campground sit astride the waterfall, which can be viewed for free and requires a short walk on sidewalk to get to. Noccalula Falls Park (fee to enter) is a top Alabama natural tourist attraction and the park includes botanical gardens, children's playground, mini-golf (separate fee), train rides, Pioneer Village, and a 200-space RV campground complete with country store & swimming pool. Also, the Black Creek Trail and its’ off-shoots provides walking, hiking, running, and mountain-biking year round. There are festivals and special events almost every weekend that bring excitement to the area for visitors and locals. The Alabama State Chocolate Festival in Rainbow City each April, or Gadsden Riverfest Music Festival each June are just two events that bring thousands of visitors to the area. "The Lookout Mountain Parkway" is a scenic highway that begins at the Falls and heads up Lookout Mountain for 90 miles to Chattanooga, TN. Each first Thursday through Sunday in August brings the "World's Longest Yard Sale" to the Park and up the Parkway and the Highway 127 corridor to Michigan. Tens of thousands of visitors begin their trek on this route in Gadsden at Noccalula Falls Park. Be sure to take a stroll through Gadsden's Historic Downtown main-street district. Also, antique shops abound in neighboring historic Downtown Attalla. There are many unique restaurants throughout Etowah County for your dining pleasure. Go to our website for a full list!
