I am very thankful for the Midwives Collective Family for helping me again for my 3rd baby... Specially Carmen Felix, Robynn Roberts and the students Hadar & Sophia. I very grateful and thankful for the effort and support you'very shown and given me...Thank you so much!!!
I am so thankful for my primary midwife Hedry Chu & my secondary midwife Suzanna and the rest of the staff and crew of Midwife Collective of Toronto, for taking care of me and my baby before and after the labor. They are all very supportive physically, mentally and emotionally. I had my first and second child with the midwife and the services is excellent and i would definitely recommend them with my friends and family. I would be very thankful for Hedry for the time and effort she had given me during and after the labor. She's an excellent midwife!
I can't say enough about the collective. Elizabeth Brandeis was my primary midwife for both of my births. She provided me so much information, comfort, and reassurance every step of the way. I can't even begin to imagine giving birth without her! My secondary midwife was Katreena Kilroy, who was also excellent, albeit very different from Elizabeth in style. They were a great match, I think.
Yup. I can't say enough about how great these ladies are. Amelie, Amy and Robin were amazing every step of the way.
Well I like the midwife that I had she birth both of my sons she was wondreful both time I had her I would use the midwifes again if I was going to have a next baby
The Midwives Collective of Toronto are the sole reason that I would have as many children as my body (and pockets) would allow!!!
Our son was born on March 1st 2011 and his delivery was seamless and beautiful! Amy was my primary midwife and Nicole was my secondary and they did everything in thier power to ensure that we had the safest and most stress free experience possible
I went to the collective because my experience with the doctor that I was referred to was cold and sterile... From the pre care appointments I could ask any burning questions that I could think of ... Every step of the way they made sure that we had all of the information that we needed.
Amy came for a home visit at 1am (way out of the catchment area since we had moved to the boonies the day before!! YIKES!!) to check on baby and make sure that I was alright... she guided me through the last contractions before rushing to the hospital 12 hours after her visit ... while there she made sure that my hubby and I were in sync and working as a team ... through the contractions she was coaching me and telling me exactly what I needed to do ...I was already 7cm and had another 3 to go... We tried any position that I needed and she was open and supportive... four hours after coming to the hospital our son came into the world ... Drug free ... altercation free ... Nicole and a student intern were also there guiding and supporting along the way ... They were very instrumental in his care as Amy took care of my after care...
For me ... there is no other way ... go to the Midwives Collective Toronto... they are truly called to this profession ...

I had an amazing experience with the Midwives Collective and was so glad that I didn't listen to that one poor review seen below. In my midwife, I had a true representative of my birthing wishes and was truly grateful for that when I had to deliver at the hospital unexpectedly ( I was hoping for a home birth). I trusted her implicitly by the time I gave birth and was extremely happy with my secondary midwife and her student.
I consider myself very, very fortunate to have been cared for through two pregnancies and Mt. Sinai hospital births by the MCT. Like another reviewer, I was turned away the first time because they didn't have space for me. But that's not a problem with the clinic, that's a problem with the lack of midwifery training programs across the country. The care I received here was simply outstanding and stands up to any possible comparison. What impressed me about the MCT was the amount of time they spent with me at each and every visit, the home visits after the birth, the expertise on breastfeeding (better than what I got from a private and expensive lactation consultant I had hired in the past) and the calm, relaxing environment of the office (as compared to the crazy busy "baby factory" of Mt. Sinai where I had my first baby through an OB/GYN). This is a very special place and anyone who has the chance should check it out.
As a father of 5 I have seen just about everything. My wife and I had 2 kids with doctors at a Hospital, 2 kids with MCT at home and 1 with MCT at a Hospital. The midwives at MCT give incredible levels of patient care that is head and shoulders above that of anywhere else we've been.
I was very skeptical the first time we used a midwife, so I made every effort to ensure that my wife received proper care. I was not only satisfied with the care given; I was amazed at how professional, knowledgable and incredibly dedicated they are. After only a couple of visits it was clear that my wife made the right choice and that my concerns were unnecessary.
I will forever be grateful to the Midwives Collective of Toronto for the excellent work they do.
See you for number six MCT!

I have two children and have the privilege of having a wonderful midwives. They are both healthy and doing so well. My husband and I had a great experience with midwives collectives, they are very helpful and informative. They spend 45 minutes each visit to make sure they explain all the process of birthing and also any related things about it. We appreciate the time spent with them compared to a hospital where you wait for a long time and check you up for 10 minutes and you are done. Our midwife makes sure that we know what is going on during the pregnancy and they not only give information about it but also supports us emotionally. I experience hospital birth on my first and home birth on my second and they are both wonderful experiences. They sure took care of me and my children very well. And my husband felt part of this pregnancy as whenever he went with me the midwife ask him of his concerns as well. Thank you Midwives Collectives as they have serve my family and my family friends very well.
I wasn't happy with the midwives' collective. My husband and I had told them that we did not want to induce labour on any terms and accepted the fact that if it were three weeks late we would transfer care to a medical doctor. At 40 weeks + 4 days they performed a stretch and sweep on me without having fully explained to me what it was or what my rights were in relation to it. I had no idea why they wanted to rush this labour along. I thought that it was something light a perineum massage just to relax the membranes. I had no idea they 'd be sticking their fingers into the womb itself and stretching around the neck. My mucus plug had already come out so what on earth did they do that for? Stretch and sweep is not a natural procedure, just because they do not use medications. It's still highly unnatural and was one of the most excrutiatingly painful experiences I have ever had. I told the woman to stop and she wouldn't listen to me. Furthermore it was performed by a student there. If you do further research on the internet you'll learn that stretch and sweeps often lead to ceaserean sections. AI wish they had given me a written pamphlet on the procedure, outlining the pros and cons of it, and i wish there were some kind of process in which they cannot perform it unless they have both mine and my partners written consent. I feel this is a serious issue which was not taken seriously, and they ought to let you know about it weeks in advance, before they suggest it to you.
Also, no one in the collective warned me about nipple confusion. I was told that I needed to supplement breast milk with formula since my baby had lost more than 10% of her body weight. I got into the habit of feeding her half the time formula. I had no idea that there would be any consequences to this. At a certain point my baby clamped her mouth shut refused my breast and would only take the bottle. I found out later from Dr. Jack Newman, that the 10% is a false number based on formula fed babies. I found it very difficult to get her back on breast milk and I didn't appreciate the lack of knwledge in that area, especially when some of the midwives had been doing this for over thirty years. Where was the wisdom with experience?
