At Jackson Medical Specialists we are focused on medically managing weight loss. This means we believe there is much more to your weight than your habits, such as biology, comorbid conditions, environment, and genetics. The vast majority of the weight loss industry is focused solely on behavior changes for weight loss, despite proven research that shows poor success with that approach. They often leave you feeling like your weight status is due to an inability to control eating or laziness, or both. This is not true! Research shows that on average there is only about 5-7% weight lost with behavior changes, and it often ends up with weight regain and/or weight cycling, frustration, stigma, and ultimately long-term poor health outcomes. Jackson Medical Specialists takes a fresh approach to an old problem: overweight and obesity are medical conditions that warrant medications for management. ​
