My swim platform purchase from this company has been the most frustrating purchase I've ever made. The product was promised for the 1st half of March 2008. I received it in mid May. It came without mounting hardware as well as loops in the aft corners of the platform that I was assured were standard design features. In addition, the mounting position for the telescoping ladder was just plain dangerous. I figured that stuff happens and that I just was unfortunate in having my order get screwed up. The company agreed to take the platform back and make modifications. However, I got jerked around with shipping dates for both pick up of the platform I was returning and delivery of the new one. The net result was that I was delayed another 12 days from what the company had told me.
The new platform had the modifications made for correcting the ladder mount position, but I expected that for 2K, they would at least polish out the welds. The lower supports for the platform were an inch too short and my yard had to fabricate new ones. The step for the transom was missing the tread. The gate for the pushpit was an inch too short. They did not use a jig to drill the holes for the bases of the tubes that connect the platform to the transom. The holes for each base had slightly different placement. This is their business. You'd expect some uniformity here.
The fit to the transom was awfull. I know because I worked for 3.5 days with my yard to get the thing on. The yard charged 2K for installation. They said cost should have been less than half that amount if the platform had been fabricated correctly. The performance of this company didn't surprise them though. They had dealt with Stainless outfitters in the past & were familiar with their subpar track record.
Lastly, Stainless outfitters will not return phone calls. Period. You can call them & they are as sweet as pie to talk to but their product does not live up to their talk. In fact, 2 weeks ago I called John Bamford about the transom step. He said he'd get one out right away. I followed up with an e-mail and at the same time informed him of the too short pushpit gate. Well you guessed it. I haven't received them yet & doubt I ever will. These guys are bad news. Photos of the problems avaiable upon request.
