Hanson H. Zhao, M.D. is a fellowship trained urologist at Hoag Urology and Urologic Oncology’s Newport Beach and Irvine locations. He finished his urology residency and general surgery internship at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Zhao earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, New York, graduating summa cum laude. He received his undergraduate degree in bioengineering from University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Zhao is a member of the American Urological Association, Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons and Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He is a well-regarded researcher and lecturer and has published numerous manuscripts, book chapters and abstracts. His academic interests include improving clinical outcomes, medical device development and health services research. His interests outside of medicine include hiking, trying new restaurants, and spending time with his family.
