I ignored all reviews and rented this place. Management is bunch of crooks.Tons of issues. Forget about damage deposit.

This is how it works. I had cleaned my complete appartment from professionals. Also provided receipts. Management said doesn't met our standard. Management charged me $680.00. I decided to take a dig on this. Found out hired company by management for cleaning are related with manager.

Plz read this. Might help you.

DO NOT RENT HERE! Today I was alarmed to find a letter taped to my door and inside was a copy of a letter I never received dated 3 months prior saying that the management would not renew my lease and I should have been moved out 5 days ago. No prior notice. No phone calls, no letters, no warning nothing. I am disabled and this will end up going to court If necessary. The staff and primarily management of this building are the worst I've encountered in 25 years of renting. You know things are bad when you walk into the leasing office and you constantly see them yelling at residents and yelling at each other. They have verbally abused me (maintenance staff have called me names to my face in the elevator because I wouldn't let them into my apt unannounced without a 24hr notice ), physically abused me (cleaning lady slapped me because I was repeatedly pressing the close door button in the elevator). I'm a very non confrontational person so I've just tolerated this behavior. They have zero respect for my anonymity and tell people I make noise complaints about that I made the complaint. When I tell them In writing that this Is stupid, liable and could lead to violence and to respect my right to privacy they just do It over and over. I've had neighbors who scream all the time off their balconies throw shit at me, pound on my door for hours, threaten me all because the people that run this place can't think before they do things. They have Ignored numerous requests for 6 months to get them to do critical repair work after the bathroom roof caved In due to a leak from the suite above me. This was unforgivable. My suite has flooded as well due to the heating system being almost 50 years old. The water Is shut off for the entire building at least once every two weeks for a day. Constant requests to enter my suite during the day when I'm sleeping. My front door has been left open and unlocked twice after staff have entered my suite to do inspections and repair!! Both times denied by staff and told It was my fault. The workmen who have shown up to do work In my suite reek of booze. My rent for my small one bdrm upon move In was 750 and has been risen every year to the max allowed by law without fail to 1375 as of this year. You will have to put up with unbelievable amounts of noise day and night. Screaming neighbors through paper thin walls, homeless people on the streets after dark, constant construction on all sides of the neighborhood, constant hammering, drilling from Inside the building. Piss, cigarette buts and puke around the site all the time especially at the entrances. Not to mention having to choke my way through two or three people always smoking right at the rear entry of the building from the restaurant next door. There Is a fire station one block north of the building. Hope you love the sound of 5 fire engines blaring away day and night. Elevator service Is completely inadequate. Two small elevators for the past year for a 37 floor building with 10 suites per floor is a joke. I've been late for work numerous times waiting 15 min or more for an elevator. Sometimes I have to scale 66 flights of stairs to get down to ground level. Two of them have been inoperable now for months. Since there Is no air conditioning for the building or suites the heat in the summer Is unbearable. With windows open the temp In my place stays around 80 degrees during summer. They have a full time security guard that we pay for with inflated rent who can't be bothered to get off his butt and check the front entrance for homeless people sleeping on the floor. I find homeless people all the time In the building in the stairwells getting high, defecating, urinating, vomiting. I call security and I either get a completely full voicemail or a guard who has no command over English. Stay away from this place, You will be so sorry you moved in. I'm financially trapped here until I can get first and damage at another place and moving expenses. When I can I will wave goodbye to this shi%hole with a smile on my face.

I called at noon to set up a time to see an apartment in this building and they told me one was available. When I arrived they rudely told me nothing was available. I told them I had set up a time to come down. The woman just gave me sarcastic responses and sighs. I think she might have just been too lazy to show the suite.

I have lived in the Calgary Place Apartments west tower since July, 2013. I first rented the apartment for convenience, as I was working downtown and the price was mostly affordable at the time (still a bit steep for what it was worth. I think I paid $875 for a small 1bdrm). The place I was living in the Beltline was undergoing road and building construction, and I wanted to leave as it was loud and I mostly worked nights. I thought I would be escaping the noise by moving in to a highrise in a cement building, but I was completely wrong. Nevermind the cheap, old windows and frames that keep out absolutely no noise (prepare to sleep with earplugs or white noise at any time of day), constant construction from apartments around you (because the constantly need repairs to aging plumbing and cosmetics), slamming doors, strange people wandering the building, fire alarms constantly going off – you name it.
The water gets shut off almost weekly – with no regard for people who don’t work a regular schedule (they couldn’t do it over night? Too cheap to pay anyone off regular hours), the heat didn’t work two winters in a row with no care for their tenants comfort, the elevators (which are fixed now, were constantly breaking down – leaving me to walk 26 stories often), the pool opens for a week and then closes again due to water quality issues (and is freezing cold anyway), the ceiling in the mailroom burst open one time when I was in there…nearly hitting me with a chunk of plaster. I’ve had numerous problems with my plumbing – my kitchen sink backed up leaving green sludge in my sink that wouldn’t drain, the drain stinks as well (if I don’t use it for a few days it makes my apartment smell like death), the toilet needed repairs to keep it from running constantly or flooding. Everything needs a new coat of paint, new carpet, new fixtures, new everything – yet I will be paying $1365 for the last month before I move out in June 2015.
The icing on the cake to finally get me to leave - is the apartment upstairs having plumbing issues for the last few months. As I work late nights, I woke up one morning to find someone working on my bathroom (not sure what they were doing) while I was sleeping. As a female living alone, I naturally freaked out. I kicked him out of my apartment (there was no notice of repairs, no 24 hour request, no indication there was an emergency plumbing issue in the adjoining apartment that I was notified of in advance). An hour later the maintenance man and his manager came back to basically YELL AT ME for kicking him out. I told him to come back in 24 hours and that no one would be allowed in my apartment without notice. Recently, the upstairs apartment has been having plumbing issues, as to which the office called me one morning when I was sleeping to request that someone come in for emergency repairs in my apartment which somehow have to do with the upstairs. I said no, as I was working nights again and to come back the next day. Well, halfway through the next day, no one had showed up yet. I called the office to see why this “emergency” hadn’t been taken care of yet, and was told someone would be by in the next few hours. Some emergency… So someone came by and knocked a hole out above my showerhead and left plaster and bits all around the bathroom for ME to clean. A few weeks later (this Monday as I’m writing this Wednesday morning), I had no water pressure in my shower only, and at that time noticed that the hole had MOLD growing in it that I hadn’t noticed earlier. I requested that someone fix my water pressure, and as I write this, I still don’t have a properly working shower.

So, you have been warned…don’t look at the new renovations to the apartment (mine hasn’t been renovated since I’ve been there for 2.5 years – but I still pay the same as everyone else…), the laundry room, the pool, the convenient location – this place is not worth even half of what you will pay. On top of the expensive rent, you must pay $175/monthly to Impark – which has constant repairs, a lack of parking space due to reserved spots, and break-ins constantly (no, it is not secure parking for what you pay). You apartment will smell like your neighbour's dinner, you will go without water at least once a week, the neighbourhood is ghetto and sketchy, the C-train is obnoxious, you’ll have to deal with extreme noise at all times of day. Your money is better spent in a better maintained building which actually cares about their tenants.

I've lived in the East building for over a year, and monthly, if not weekly a new problem arises. We live on the 29th floor, they shut off the water CONSTANTLY. I have never lived in a place that has so many "water leaks" or "burst pipes". The whole mail room completely flooded, as did the laundry room. We pay $1600.00 a month and the building is UNINHABITABLE. Our dishwasher floods the apartment on a regular basis. We asked for maintenance to look at, and they brushed it off "There is nothing wrong with it". The heat never works, so be prepared to freeze in the winter. Fire alarms go off maybe two-three times per month. It isn't fun evacuating down 420 stairs (yes we counted). With the recent Calgary Power Outage, the water was turned off for floors 14-37. They have no back-up generators. Try evacuating in pitch black darkness-lots of fun. We cannot wait to high-tail it out of there. Do not move here!!!

I just wish I had read the reviews about Calgary Place Apartments before moving here a couple of years ago. On their office window (east tower), they have a slogan “Calgary Place Apartments - we really care where you live.” They should change it to say: “Calgary Place Apartments - we really care where you live AS LONG AS IT’S NOT HERE!” The staff changes constantly and it seems the good ones never stay. Some of the employees (maintenance and office) really shouldn’t be dealing with the public – they seem to hate their job. There are problems with the elevators on a regular basis (even though new ones were installed last year). Water is turned off frequently due to the number of burst pipes, leaks or other problems (the ceiling in the east tower mail room is practically falling down by the mailboxes due to regular leaks from the laundry room). When it gets really cold in the winter (like minus 25 or so), the heat doesn’t work properly. So if you move here, bring along several portable heaters. While I am suspicious of overly negative or overly positive reviews, the negative ones I’ve read about Calgary Place Apartments are, unfortunately, true. The only good review I’ve read in all of the reviews online (Google Calgary Place Apartments reviews) was the recent one here (June 2014) and, judging by the spelling errors and grammar, I believe it’s from a staff member or their friend/relative. Do yourself a favour and don’t move here because you’ll be looking for another apartment sooner than you think.

I have rented a great unit with Calgary Place January 2014 and I had the most wonderful experience out of 25 years of renting. The most wonderful stuff that I met and what great services they offer, they are very nice and helpful people, the ladies in the office and the maintanance stuff. Never mind the location of this place, along with the clean lines of the building how clean they mainten it and it feels realy safe cause they have security coming in every night patroling until morning. My opinion if you ever want to rent in Calgary this is the place where you want to be.

I moved into my apartment in 2013, but will not be renewing my lease when it is due for renewal. Why? the whole time I have lived here we have had 2 elevators (instead of 3) not fun when there are 37 floors and if it is moving weekend, creates misery for residents.
I have had periods with no hot water and no heat (of course during the coldest week of the winter)
I agree with everything the previous posters have said. I moved in due to the location, but I could get a better deal somewhere else.
Serious money needs to be invested into this building to make it worth paying an increase in rent.

I have lived here for only 6 months and within that six months I have had more to complain about then to brag. Currently the water running from my taps has no heat, has been running that way since yesterday (its -10 out currently). Two days with out a shower, who wants to move in next to me? But in all seriousness. I have not had a pleasant experience here thus far, the room is very plain, the ceiling is filthy (not cleaned before i moved in), carpets stained, and overall dirty. The laundry room has the stench of garbage which almost makes me gag, not to mention the signs posted everywhere requesting we stay with our laundry lol, ya ok! so basically.. Calgary place apartments, you have my coin for the remaining 6 months of my lease, but after that bon voyage!

I rented with Calgary Place Apartments for about 16 months. I was interested in the view and the size of the one bedroom apartment, as well as the walking distance to my former office in downtown calgary. There are some problems with the buildings. The building is about fourty years old. The plumbing is old and needs maintenance. The elevators were often not working properly. The building has about 33 or 34 storeys. When the elevators broke down, it was really inconvenient for people in higher floors. My apartment had a window with a metal frame. The noise from the street below would pass right through the windows even when they were shut tight; so there was the constant noise from the buses, firetrucks and calgary C train which passes barely a block from the building. There is also something strange about the building. The air in the building circulates between the different units, which might be a common problem in some high rises. I was often smelling my neighbours' cigarettes, or burnt food, or whatever they might be cooking.
One thing that I didn't like about the plumbing, besides the sink sometimes getting clogged, is the low pressure of the water in the bathroom. The water pressure was often low in the bathroom that I couldn't shower at certain times of the day. I wasn't able to shower in the morning. This might be a common problem in certain high rises. However, the water pressure was also fairly low throughout the day in the bathroom. It was however high in the kitchen. There were certainly separate plumbing systems for the bathroom and the kitchen.
The building manager was nice when I rented the apartment and the staff gave me a welcome package that included some paper towels and cleaning supplies in a large reusable shopping bag; however, the building manager was not flexible or helpful with me when I wanted move out just a week after the start of the new month. I had to pay a full additional month which is expensive in that large building in the core downtown. The manager was quite sour and unfriendly then.
So the building provides some nice views in the higher floors and is very close to a lot of large business buildings in Calgary's downtown core; but it is old and has many problems and the staff aren't always friendly. Also parking is really expensive in Calgary's downtown core. If you have a car and need to park it in the basement of the high rise, you will easily pay at least $125 per month per parking stall.

As I write this review, I have no hot water in my apartment. I am not sure to what extent the no hot water availability is throughout my building, but we had absolutely no notice whatsoever that it would be shut off.

I have been living here for the past 1.5 years, and when I first moved in, my rent was $950/month. A year later, it rose to $980/month. This August 2013, it will be $1,100/month. In my opinion, this is an absolutely insane amount to be paying to stay in a below average one-bedroom suite in which the amenities are constantly breaking.

Certain staff at Calgary Place Apartments can be nice and polite, but it is a common occurrence to be waiting in their office, only to be ignored or to be rudely treated when they actually did acknowledge someone's presence.

I am the only person on my floor who has been living here for the amount of time that I have. I constantly see people moving in then out of the building, so it is obvious that some are willing to pay for the extra months to complete their 12-month rental agreement. That is a lot of money to be giving up for nothing, but it really is that bad to be living here.

I hope this review helps someone looking for a place to rent in downtown Calgary. Please do not rent here... You will regret it!

I have been residing in calgary place appartments for more than 3 years in the west tower. At first i signed a 12 months lease agreement which epired in September 2008 and stayed on a months to month contract up till August 2010 which i signed a new 12 months agreement to lower the rent (As they refused to lower the rent eventhough all my friends who were renting in calgary downtown got a rent decrease from their respective managements without even asking for it). now i want to leave the bulding by the end of july 2011 since i already finished my 12 months period. For some reason management believes that the contract was meant to be for 12 months period from September 2010 (Basicly to match the same month of the original contract...!) intrestingly they want to consider me breaking the lease for not willing to stay for this two extra months...!!!

They are totaly unreasonable in their discussions and dont have any solid ground to stand above...

Of course i do not need to mention their terrible customer service, late, old pluming which always break down, slow and almost not working elevators , evry second day fire alarm and name any other thing you would think of for a terrible place to stay in.

Unfortunetly i do not like changes so it took me a very long time to finaly make the decesion to move out but i would like to put this information infront of any one who is considering to rent any of those appartments.

One more interesting thing all other buildings would paint the walls and replace the carpets if you rented the appartment for more than 2 years but in clgary place it is not done before 7 years.....!
