By far the best restaurant in Toronto so far. I came here for my birthday and the experience was transcendent. First, the service was top tier level, the waiter that took care of us was gentlemen with a great vibe. Best server I had in my life. They seated us according to our request (nice seating away from the entrance). They also printed a birthday card for me which was very considerate. They also called and emailed asking us very detailed oriented questions ahead of the dinner which was top notch. They also switched our utensils every meal which is a small detail yet powerful dinner experience detail. Sparkling water was also complimentary versus other restaurants. The pace of the food was perfect as well and they also gave me a small birthday cake!
Food was immaculate. An eye opening experience. I cannot even describe the food/art that I have eaten. Nothing disappointed me. They used the best of the best ingredients. Every dish was perfectly curated and every bite was orgasmic. If I was a multi millionaire, I would come here everyday. All the food was at the right temperature, nothing got stuck to our teeth, and I would say the egg & toast dish was one very memorable.
Now as for the atmosphere, the decor was elegant but the restaurant isn’t very big, thus the difficulty of getting a reservation. It was comfy and treated us extremely well.
Overall I recommend it for special occasions, not for a huge party but great for 4 people family or with your significant other. I will be coming back for sure one day.

An exceptional dining experience — easily deserving its Michelin star (and arguably more).
Alo is one of those rare restaurants where absolutely everything — from the first greeting to the final bite — feels intentional, precise, and quietly extraordinary. Toronto has no shortage of ambitious tasting-menu restaurants, but Alo sits in a class of its own. The execution is flawless, the flavors are balanced yet surprising, and every plate feels like it was composed by people who care about perfection without ever drifting into pretension.
The tasting menu flows beautifully: thoughtful transitions, impeccable pacing, and dishes that manage to be both technically impressive and genuinely delicious. There’s no “one dish” that steals the show because the entire experience is the show — elevated but warm, sophisticated but deeply satisfying. Even the smallest elements (a broth, a garnish, a sauce) are dialed in with a level of finesse you rarely see.
Service is world-class: gracious, polished, attentive without hovering. The kind of hospitality that anticipates needs rather than reacts to them. The team operates with the smoothness of a well-rehearsed ensemble, and yet the energy is relaxed, never stiff.
The room itself feels quietly luxurious — intimate, atmospheric, and perfectly suited to the multi-course format. It sets the stage rather than competing with the food.
Alo absolutely earns its Michelin star, and honestly, it’s easy to imagine it holding more. It’s a restaurant that makes you feel lucky to be there.
5 out of 5 stars — a standout in Toronto and a must for anyone who loves exceptional dining.

Alo delivers one of the most memorable fine-dining experiences in Toronto. The nine-course blind chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings was exceptional. Each dish was beautifully executed, balanced, and genuinely delicious. The pairings elevated the flavours. I appreciated Christopher’s storytelling behind the wines selected.
The open-kitchen view added an extra layer of enjoyment, letting me watch the team work as they delivered dinner service.

The food is so good it gave me two existential crises mid meal. I did not know eggs could taste so deep and rich. I have never had steak so succulent and buttery. The bread is perfect. Even the smaller bites were bursting with unique and complex flavor combinations that I had never imagined.
We got the tasting menu. I went there famished and I left stuffed. In total I believe we were in the restaurant for about 3 hours.
The experience sitting counterside and watching the chefs prepare the dishes was like getting dinner and a show. If you're like me and you have an interest in kitchen craft from a childhood watching Food Network then I recommend this option.
The service was impeccable. Staff are attentive, knowledgeable and conversational without being overbearing.
Weeks later, I am still thinking about this wonderful meal.

I was looking for something special for my wife & I’s anniversary and Alo delivered on all fronts. From the moment we walked in the service was fantastic. Our server Michael had tremendous knowledge of the menu. The courses came quick but never felt rushed. The attention to detail is nothing we have ever experienced. The whole evening was an experience we will never forget. We op-ed in for the kitchen sitting area and it was amazing seeing the chefs preparing the food in front of our eyes.
I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a new experience with fantastic food. My favourite was definitely the steak wagyu dish, it was probably one of the best courses I’ve ever tasted.

Really good service. Came here to celebrate our anniversary with my boyfriend. Will definitely come again :) We got their blind tasting menu, server says it changes max every 3 months.
We celebrated our anniversary here and had an incredible time. Every single ingredient is sourced and prepared with a lot of thought behind it. Extremely impressive dynamic flavours throughout. I think this might genuinely be the best fine dining tasting menu I have had. Thanks to everyone for accommodating and making our anniversary special. Also thanks to our waiter Michael and Christopher for the small wine journey. It’s so hard to pick a favourite dish because everything was so good and flavourful.
We can’t wait to come back and try the other experiences that Alo has to offer! See you soon, thank you so much.

My wife and I celebrated Valentine’s Dinner on the Saturday this year at Alo. This was our first Michelin Star Restaurant experience and it was absolutely remarkable.
The staff is incredibly meticulous with their actions and they do not miss a beat. Their knowledge of each dish was broad and highly impressive. A basic “thank you” can go a long way, people…thank the staff every chance you get!
The food was beyond what we could have imagined. The flavors were delectable and the plating was a work of art for each dish. It truly was a journey for our taste buds.
We will definitely be coming back in the future. Thank you to all the staff at Alo for an unforgettable experience!

Alo is an absolute masterpiece in the culinary world, where creativity, patience, and care shine through in every dish. From the moment you step inside, you can feel the meticulous process that goes into each plate. The quality of the ingredients is evident—especially the toro, which melts in your mouth like nothing I've ever experienced before. Every flavor is perfectly balanced, with the butter feeling light and the richer notes creating an unforgettable depth.
The presentation is a work of art, showcasing not just skill, but an unwavering commitment to aesthetics and creativity. Morgan, the sommelier, is a true expert, guiding guests through a thoughtfully curated wine list and sharing hidden gems that elevate the entire dining experience.
The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, adding to the overall refined yet approachable atmosphere. There's a unique energy here, with the perfect blend of sophistication and fun, especially with the carefully selected music that gives the space an edge over other fine-dining establishments.
Every detail at Alo is executed to perfection, making it an exceptional culinary journey that stands out in the world of fine dining. A five-star experience without a doubt!

My partner and I are so grateful for the impeccable experience we had at Alo to celebrate our anniversary last February that while reminiscing over unposted photos from last year we felt the need to share them now as we are now longing to return. We had booked a dining room blind tasting menu which lasted around 3 hours (which truly is just enough time) and the food was perfectly portioned to fill us up by the end that we even had a few chocolates left to take back home. We upgraded a few of our dishes, which were kindly presented as optional, and added a few cocktails along the way. If you’re looking for an elevated French dining experience in Toronto you must include Alo on your journey.
Really enjoyed the experience! The food was delicious and creative, the service was top notch, and ambiance was wonderful. We got the tasting menu and nonalcoholic pairing which included 10 dishes and we spent 3 hours in total which flew by! The staff were all lovely and seemed very passionate and knowledgeable. This has been by far my favourite dining experience in Toronto. Would definitely recommend Alo for special occasions!
My wife and I chose to dine here for a special occasion, and it was an incredible experience! The food and service were fantastic! We very much appreciated the quality of the ingredients, along with the creativity and technique to craft each course. This was our favourite fine dining experience, to date. We were pleasantly satiated after 9 courses, and each course was consistent to amaze us. Finally, the service here was excellent; we have never dined somewhere with so much care and attention to detail.
Went to the Bar at Alo for a birthday celebration and everything was excellent. We had the tasting menu and the food was tasty and well presented. Service was great and the staff explained each dish. I would definitely recommend this place for a quiet yet fun girls night out.
This restaurant offers a true culinary masterpiece.

It's essential to approach alo with an open mind and a willingness to explore a sophisticated level of culinary experience. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the attentive staff to the beautiful and comfortable ambiance.
Each course is a delightful surprise, blending flavours and textures in unexpected and harmonious ways. The dedication to sourcing the highest quality ingredients is evident in every bite.
Having dined here three times in the past couple years, I can attest to the consistent excellence. Reservations are highly recommended, as this popular restaurant is often booked well in advance.
The staff's passion for the food is evident in their detailed explanations of each dish, showcasing the effectiveness of their training.
The entire experience surpasses expectations, and the restaurant's ability to accommodate dietary restrictions is commendable.
I should add that the pictures provided are from my visit in three years ago, the menu is most definitely changed matching to today’s culinary trends.

An unique and elite food experience.
The thoughtness and sophistication of each dish were paramount.
I found that not only my taste buds being pampered, my eyes were in a visual adventure and my mind was put to high gear in order to fully embrace and enjoy all the aspects and complexities.
Service was super attentive, wine selection was excellent, the cocktail and mocktail selection was special.
The cooking was contemporary French with a Asian/Japanese twist and food ingredients were of high quality from around the global. Wagyu beef, foie gras , lobster, etc
The blind tasting menu took ~3hrs to finish and a little envelope with the menu was provided in the end. Nice touch.
Overall, it's a very fulfilling, exciting and exquisite culinary experience.
An excellent option for a fancy meal to celebrate anniversary or major milestone.

It was our anniversary date night, and we received excellent five-star service. The atmosphere was lovely, though the lighting was a bit dim. The food was good overall, but some dishes were overly salty; a more balanced salty flavor would have been appreciated. The dessert didn’t quite meet our expectations. I noticed that the tables next to us received complimentary desserts with a candle, but our table did not, which was a bit disappointing given the special occasion. Overall, it was still a generally good experience.
This is my second time visiting Alo after two years, and I'm pleasantly surprised that their tasting menu has gone up a notch!
Their menu highlights the diverse culinary scene in Toronto by combining classic French techniques with flavours from around the world to elevate the ingredients in each dish. Having been to quite a few Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, I can say that Alo serves some of the most memorable dishes I’ve ever had. In both of my visits, one particular dish stood out among the others. What impresses me the most is how they combine relatively inexpensive, simple ingredients to create an incredible harmony of textures and flavours that literally brought tears to my (and my partner's) eyes! Words can't properly describe it, as this is not only a gastronomic experience but also an emotional one. If I had to nitpick, the only thing I wish could have been better was that the dinner rolls were cold (perhaps because it was close to closing time?).
I would say the wine pairing is a must. The sommelier is knowledgeable and introduced us to a wide variety of wines, each beautifully paired with its respective dish.
Not to mention, their service is impeccable from start to finish. Thank you to the Alo team for giving us such an amazing dining experience. We look forward to returning!

Exceptional service and creative food. Definitely a night to remember.
My partner and I opted for the tasting menu with wine pairings. We had reservations for the kitchen counter, which was a really cool experience. It was nice to see the chefs in action real-time, although a bit hectic at times.
Service was a standout, with our server tending to our needs before I could even voice them (brought napkins when he noticed me sneezing, etc...). The server educating us on the wines was super friendly and informative. They also accommodated my request to have no mushrooms (I hate them lol) and had creative substitutions wherever they were used.
The food was pretty great. I would say there was a heavy emphasis on seafood (mackerel, crab, turbot, lobster, caviar, tuna) so if you dislike that be mindful to voice that ahead of time. The ravioli to me was a standout, and I was definitely wowed by the creativity of some of the dishes.
The price is naturally quite steep (being one of Canada's top restaurants) and the bill before tip was over $900. That being said, for a special occasion in Toronto it's really hard to beat.

Alo is nothing short of spectacular. From the moment you step into the elegant space, the attention to detail is apparent.
The service is impeccable, every staff member is knowledgeable, attentive, and passionate, making the experience feel truly special.
The food is on another level. Each course was a masterpiece, with flavors that were perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. The menu took us on a culinary journey, with every dish showcasing the best of French techniques combined with modern creativity.
The wine pairings were expertly chosen, enhancing the flavors of each dish, and the ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, yet refined.

My palate is not developed enough to really enjoy this place. 2 out of all the dishes were to my liking. Super expensive though but great service very attentive wait staff.
The tasting menu had seven (or technically 10.5) courses that were very tasty and well presented. There were a variety of techniques and flavors that all complement each other. The portion size was perfect so it left us feeling satiated. The only downside was the inside was a little outdated with the leather seats having rips and marks. Service was impeccable and one of the best I’ve ever had. The servers were super attentive, friendly, and walked us through exactly what we’re eating. Would highly recommend this for a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary.
Finally reviewing after my third time here.
Service is always lovely from the servers to the sommeliers. I really appreciated the birthday cake and checking in on me.
Lots of French and Japanese flavors and techniques in the tasting menus. There's a good balance of savory and sweet. Same goes for the wine pairing.
I did notice the number of courses reduced from 9 to 7 but that works out better for me as I could barely finish 9.
There is a lot of care in the dishes and wine pairings, highly recommend coming out at least once.
Also I'll never get tired of their bread, best bread ever 🍞
