David Moffat, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon with fellowship training in minimally invasive and metabolic (bariatric) surgery at Prisma Health in Columbia, South Carolina. He practices a wide range of general surgery, including gastrointestinal surgery, foregut surgery, hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction. His clinical interests include primary and revision bariatric surgery, anti-reflux surgery, complex hernia repair and robotic surgery. A native of Columbia, Dr. Moffat completed his medical education at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he was recognized as an Outstanding Physician of the Year, and then completed a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. His research interests include outcomes of revision bariatric procedures, robotic surgery and simulation training for surgical residents. Moffat is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the American Hernia Society (AHS).
