Paul Appleby, MD

Dr. Paul Appleby is a board-certified General and Bariatric Surgeon with MUSC Health – Columbia. Dr. Appleby specializes in Robotic, Bariatric, Foregut, General and Complex Hernia Surgery. A native of South Carolina, he received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and went on to complete his residency in General Surgery at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in North Carolina. He then completed a fellowship in Advanced GI and Bariatric Surgery at Virginia Tech School of Medicine where he spent time focusing on minimally invasive surgical techniques to allow patients a faster recovery after surgery. Dr. Appleby believes in a patient-centered and individualized approach to health care. While not participating in clinical care, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, cooking, and exercising.
