Toronto has alot of solid offerings in the steakhouse market. Butcher Chef is, however, a notch above. Service, ambience and, of course, the menu offerings have been perfected by ownership/management as a result of their focus on excellence. I visit Toronto 2-3 times per year and enjoy many of the city's culinary options. The only "do not miss" destination is The Butcher Chef...it is that good. I have heard that the ownership/visionaries behind The Butcher Chef are opening a new restaurant, Bar Butcher. Will I visit? Absolutely!

The basil citrus cake and pistachio cake were amazing. All of the food was amazing. I also loved the truffle waygu ravioli. The service was the best I’ve had in my life. My glass was always full, the table was always clean, they changed the silverware after every course, and the timing was perfect. Excellent fine dining experience

First time here and it was an incredibly sophisticated night. From the service, to the atmosphere and food, it was amazing.
Highly recommend the Thierry Fournier champagne, espresso martini, Wagyu raviolini, ceviche, halibut, truffle potatoes au gratin. I found the Caesar and grilled octopus good but not as great as the other dishes. The honey bacon is a must.

I was invited to this restaurant for a business dinner, so was able to experience it without the added sting of paying the bill myself. That said, it was impossible not to notice the disconnect between the price point and the overall experience.
The restaurant gives the impression of luxury before it delivers the substance of it. The room, plating, and overall presentation are clearly designed to feel elevated, but the experience itself did not fully match that ambition. Service leaned more pretentious than polished, and the food, while attractive, was mostly just okay.
For a restaurant operating at this level, the small details become much more noticeable. A tartare appetizer at this price should feel memorable, and a steak priced like a luxury dish should arrive exactly as intended. Ours was served cold, which took away from what should have been one of the highlights of the meal.
To their credit, the restaurant did send out a few complimentary items, including an additional dish and dessert, which was a nice gesture. Still, the overall impression was underwhelming. It felt like a restaurant that knows how to perform “high-end,” but not quite how to embody it.

excellent experience at the butcher chef. i came here with my dad since we wanted to try out another steakhouse in the city. great service and tasters in between courses. they served our meat to us and arranged/explained it so we got the full experience of meats. in terms of selection i believe jacob's had a wider range of offerings but that didn't mean this place was bad, just different settings.

nothing not to like about a posh expensive place with incredibly flavored food.
Steaks were melt-in- your-mouth.
Duck was perfectly cooked and served.
even the fried chicken was bursting with flavor.
Chef threw in tasters that were bursting with flavor. Best cheesecake and ice cream we've ever had.
Price: about $250pp (no alcohol)

Superb restaurant, and a superb steak, friendly staff as well.
An expensive meal but well worth paying for great food.

As a professional chef, dining at The Butcher Chef was a refined and memorable culinary experience.
From the moment you enter, the restaurant sets a tone of luxury and precision. The service team is highly knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly trained to understand both the menu and the philosophy behind each dish.
What truly stands out is their approach to sourcing and handling meat. The cuts are exceptional in quality, with a clear emphasis on premium selections such as Wagyu and carefully aged beef. Each steak is executed with technical accuracy — proper seasoning, controlled cooking, and excellent balance between crust and tenderness.
The menu reflects a thoughtful connection between product and presentation. You can feel the respect for ingredients, especially with their focus on local sourcing and seasonality, which is something every serious chef appreciates. (The Butcher Chef)
The tasting experience is well-structured, offering depth without overwhelming the palate. Pairings, particularly the wine and scotch selection, are curated to elevate the overall experience.
If there is one thing to note, it is that this is not a traditional steakhouse — it leans more toward fine dining, where every detail is intentional and elevated.
Overall, The Butcher Chef delivers a high-end, chef-driven dining experience that stands out in Toronto’s competitive steakhouse scene. Highly recommended for those who truly understand and appreciate quality meat and refined executio

Excellent food and service! Only two reasons why I did not give 5 stars: 1) the poorly selected decor for noise absorption. For fine dining I expect an atmosphere where I can have a conversation, not yelling and straining to hear over a party of 10 beside us., and 2) the onion bloom appetizer was not cut properly, it should just pull apart and not require a knife to serve.

Incredible service and food, my boyfriend took me to celebrate my birthday here and we both enjoyed every second of it! Leo was our server and he was so polite, kind and knowledgeable with everything! Highly recommend! Thank you for a wonderful evening and making it special for us.

Cosy, intimate, romantic spot for some excellent food. We especially loved how the atmosphere actually matches with the style and expectations of an upscale steakhouse like this.
Highly recommend the pistachio cake for dessert; we were at a loss for words for how good it was.

A meal to remember!! We sat at the bar, Katya was the mixologist and the cocktails were next level. From start to finish the food was fabulous. The tuna, A5 poke appetizer topped with caviar was incredible.. we set the bar high and from there it was one delicious bite to the next. The whole roasted branzino was delicious, seasoned to perfection. If you’re a fan of squash, the side of squash we ordered was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The roasted mushrooms, truffle fries, the greens & herb salad were all fabulous. We ended with a blueberry cheesecake for dessett with a gorgeous presentation. The decor in the restaurant was edgy, eclectic and stunning. If you’re looking for a decadent night out, look no further. Worth every cent!! Thank you!

We had the absolute pleasure of celebrating a birthday at the butcher chef and indulging in their 11 course tasting menu! What a treat it was! Every course was soo fun and creative and of course, absolutely delicious! The star of the show was of course the wagyu and the different salts to try (ours being the black salt). The service was top notch (shoutout to our server Nicole she was great!) and the place was very intimate and just made you feel special. The 11 course tasting menu was $350 a person. If you’re needing a place for a special occasion or just need to do something different or just want to treat yourself this is the place! A fine dining experience indeed, 10/10 highly recommend and we hope to be back sooner than later!

Hands down, this is my favorite steakhouse in the city. The quality of the food is consistently outstanding. On my most recent visit, I started with the phenomenal 14 oz grass-fed strip loin, which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I also branched out and tried their branzino, and it was equally delicious—flaky, tender, and expertly prepared.
The side dishes were flawless accompaniments: the tangy zucchini with feta was bright and fresh, and the earthy mushrooms added incredible depth. Every element of the meal was exceptional; they simply never miss a beat.
