I am so glad that my co-worker recommended him because I don't think I would have found him on my own! My wedding band was a bit large (and wider than I wanted it to be) and my grandmother's diamond engagement ring was too small and no longer secure in its setting (it had been in a drawer for far too long!). I took the rings to AJ and he turned them into a beautiful, new set for me. I am so pleased with the result!

For years I have had the privilege and full satisfaction from Jim Horton's professional and outstanding services. Over the years I have given him a variety of various types of jewellery and family heritage items to which he most effectively responded. Everything was done in a sensitive and efficient manner. We entrusted in him a priceless watch given to my husband's father many years ago to be repaired. In the past I have sent many friends and colleagues who have been more than satisfied. It is also such a pleasure to visit his museum like jewellery store.

I have been a customer of Mr. Horton for a good couple of years, where I have had high quality and sound service on all my requests. More than that it has been an interesting place to visit with his unique displays. So honest....and works so hard....Jim worked on his time off to make me a beautiful piece....and so reasonable and honest...

If you have a piece you love, DO NOT bring it here. Shoddy workmanship and if you happen to be a non-confrontational person, he will run roughshod over you telling you how hard he worked and how everything is done by hand. Of course it was--machines don't do things crooked, upside down, replace posts with glue smearing glue all over the place and with edges that catch. In short, Mr. Horton ruined a piece that was given to me on my fathers deathbed. It can't be replaced. I was Devastated when I saw what happened. I said nothing because I could see it couldn't be fixed and I didn't need to be harangued about how he had stayed up til midnight working on it. I gave a one star rating because they wouldn't allow a 0.

All I had to say to him was make me a something out of a gold chain and engagement ring and let me tell you he came through with perfection. He has excellent jewellery making skills and I highly recommend him.

My fiance proposed to me accompanied with a custom engagement ring made by Jim. We had shopped around at high end jewelers for a while, however found that none of the rings were suitable. The ring Jim crafted is absolutely stunning; Jim's attention to detail is bar none. When we get married, we plan to get our wedding rings made by him and would definitely recommend Jim as Ottawa's top jeweler.

AJ did my wedding band years ago, and also did a custom design which he planned with my husband. I have just started to get the "itch" to go back and see him. He is amazing. Very engaged with his customers. He listens and he cares, and most importantly, he loves what he does.

AJ has done my wedding ring, and several custom pieces for my wife in the $1000+ range. He is talented, honest, and accessible. The pieces have character and the feel of personal workmanship. He is engaging and works with you on the design.
