Like any insurance company watch your policy. When renewing (in AB) they didn't advise my car would be a write off. Truck damaged my front bumper while I was in the store. Tried to settle out but person unreasonable. They advised all good to claim. Checked again. They would have seized my car, paid out minimum amount, and I'd have to buy it back at auction! I was still paying collision, never let me know that when I renewed, check your book value constantly.
Came to Toronto. All good just transfer the policy. Found out I was paying DOUBLE what is normally charged. They told me not to worry about getting my abstract. Other insurance brokers advised they needed it to quote and grudginly Meloche voice on the phone said it could get me a lower rate. Had to scramble to get abstract from AB (Ten years!). They advised it was $100.00 less with abstract. Tried another company and with the same car/home policy I was paying $1400.00 less.
When I cancelled they put through a charge for the full policy price causing my account to go into the negative.
To their credit an upper management (deal with these people only, the front line workers are unreliable) finally straightened it all out and paid the NSF along with reducing the amount of penalty. Really disappointed, I have a good record, trust my insurance company to look out for me and they cut me no deals. They are hard to physically find and the phone service is just plain awful, misinformed, dangerously WRONG, and hit and miss as to quality of service. Not impressed and will not use ever again.
