Had there been Zero Stars, I would be forced to choose the Zero. My singlehanded attempt to save the life of my beloved niece, Minnie Edenfield, was flatlined by this office. I made several calls to Ms Spell concerning the dangerous situation at Devine Trinity PCH in Hinesville, Ga. I made them aware that my niece had been raped once within only months of my horrible decision to place her there. Not only was she raped, Minnie was being forced to sleep on a cot due to her symptomatic incontinence after the sexual assault, oral and anal.
I reported to Ms Spell that my family member was forced to eat frozen food at this vile facility. That she was also being punished, punished with an IQ of (((39)))!! Minnie’s physical restrictions consisted of two weeks in her room, without phone privileges, being left out of group outings, and made to stay at one of the five other facilities under the same name, Devine Trinity. One of the House Mothers Lisa informed me about these vile and outrageous punishment practices. Minnie Marie Edenfield is dead now, thanks to the APA & Baxley Ombudsman. Since her death I began retrieving her medical records. From my initial report to this Ombudsman‘s office until the year she died. My niece was raped three more times. The owner and her staff failed to protect her, they failed to report the crimes to police, HFRD and to DBHDD. Had only someone from this office done a thorough investigation of my FIRSTHAND concerns, then my niece wouldn’t be sitting here in my living room in a cardboard box!
This office is a full on nightmare for me and my family. Had someone, anyone gone that extra mile for Minnie Marie, instead of refusing to answer my dozens of calls and ignoring my pleas to help me save her little precious life, I wouldn’t be in my second year of excruciating grief.
This Georgia Ombudsman‘s office is an abhorrent waste of taxpayer dollars. If they let these violent atrocities happen to my family member, trust me, it will happen to yours.
The photo of of tiny childlike hands are the very hands pointing me in the direction of justice, and accountability. Minnie’s life mattered!
But to Devine Trinity, she was nothing more than a commodity, as the proof will show that the owner Mrs Townsend failed to initiate a safe, exit from her facilities into another group home of another name. And by the time my family learned that Minnie was even sick, she had been on life-support for 20 days in a different state, set Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. There’s not enough room in this review!
