I am so happy with the care I received at Grand River Hospital. Everyone was very helpful, polite and caring. The doctors and nurses were all amazing as were the rest of the staff at the hospital. Thank you Grand River Hospital.
If I could put zero stars I would.Rude nurse for 2 straight days and a doctor that was totally clueless. My wife suffered terribly in their hands.
I saw a dr in grh for an abnormal pap... Said dr was rude, treated me like a leper. I was recommended (and had) seen her about this abnormality for 3 years.. Every 3 montha of which i was sent for biopsy and told the growths were becoming increasingly bad... On oct 27, 2010 i was given a diagnosis of cervical cancer and booked for the earliest surgery... Which happened to be april 10th 2011. On april 2nd I tested tested at home for pregnancy and was positive. I called the Dr, and cancelled the surgery. The Dr blatently said i was to terminate as in my condition i was unfit to parent. I kindly told her to lick me where i deficate as i was continuing with the prenancy. At that point she said she would no longer see me. After my son was born i was sent for the routine check ups and of course a good look at my cervix. My dr couldn't find any growth, any abnormalities, or any cause for concern.
I recommend getting a second opinion for any and all diagnoses coming from grh. Could save you unnecessary surgery, or more.

If I could leave zero stars I would. This hospitals emergency department should be ashamed of themselves. From the triage nurse who was outwardly hostile and condescending (not to mention judgmental, rude, and medically wrong), all the way through to the Doctor who was a misogynist (I was the patient, he addressed every word to my husband. Even the at home steps I was to follow) and who eventually sent me home feeling like I had bothered him at home. Does this hospital only hire people who can be dubious, hurtful, and have zero empathy or compassion? I am a volunteer at this hospital, I give my time and energy to help Grand River, I am kind, courteous and respectful to every person I meet. I will be resigning today, after the appalling service I received...ON CHRISTMAS. It was so quiet every nurse and Doctor commented on it, so it wasn't the volume that was the problem. I am sorry I ever gave any positivity to a place that has been so outrageously unprofessional and negative.
My water broke on Feb. 14th, 2013 at 4:30am. I went to Grand River Triage, they checked me out, then sent me home. I was told to come back in a few hours. Came back, was told to leave again and come back as triage was full and not enough nurses. I was also told this time before leaving that when I arrived back again I would be induced at that time. It's now 10pm on Feb. 14th, 2013, still no baby. I go back to Grand River and I'm put into a private room and told to wait for someone to come induce me. By 3am I ring the call button, a very rude nurse tells me there's not enough staff for me to be induced until 7am and to go to sleep. She shut every light off on me and closed the door leaving me in total darkness (and I also felt like a child) At this point I'm extremely angry, it's been close to 24 hours since my water had broken!!! By 7am I have a nurse tap me on the shoulder to say they are going to start induction. The only good thing I can remember about this whole experience was the nurse that stayed with me from 7am-7pm. Yes, that's right, it's now Feb. 15th at 7pm and still no baby. At this point I'm being told I'm not progressing enough and I will have to have a C-section. At 930pm they prepare me for the C-section, and I wait. I waited another 4 hours!!! By 1:35am on Feb. 16th, 2013 my baby girl was finally brought into the world!! First off, I'm extremely angry with Grand River because I could have gone home on Feb 14th and slept in my own bed comfortably and came back to be induced for 7am. I was treated with total disrespect by many nurses, and it seemed like there was never enough staff working!! The staff that were working seemed to care little about their jobs (with a few to the exception) But still, many woman, me being one of them, expect to have the nurses there to help you, meaning when I ring the call bell, it shouldn't be an inconvenience to come help. That's your job!! If you don't like it, then find another field to work in that will make you happy. I was relieved to go home and get away from all the negativity in the building. Grand River, get your act together. Not impressed with my experience, and I've heard many other horror stories from other moms as well. People talk, if you want good things said, good things need to happen.
I was at Grand River Hospital with my sister admitted for three weeks. The treatment we received as family was amazing. that staff were great, very supportive, encouraging and were always there in time of need. Thank you alot GRH staffs and kept up the good spirit!
Went to emergency with what I would later learn was a fracture to my 5th metacarpel. Just wanted to compliment every employee at Grand River that I met, from the lady at information to the triage nurse, to x-ray, to the Dr. who placed the splint. Great job! What a great team. Thank you for you kindness, professionalism, and efficiency.
