The store manager was impolite
Didn’t help at all , I went to return a purchase and I have tried them on the lady wouldn’t take it back or store credit.
I understand it’s for sanitary reasons and I wouldn’t of bought them as I was unsure of the size, I’f I was aware of their policy.
I was also not told the return policy when purchasing
- this was at the Rideau location. ( I believe it was the manager) in my opinion someone like her should not be working as she was so rude

I can tell you the products have never been worn. There is a standard in this store for professionalism so if you look like you just rolled out of bed it’s not appropriate for work, you want to look like there’s a small effort, it’s like that for every retail job...Also we are so strict with policies because of hygienic reasons. No one wants used nylons or spanx so we would never sell something used. Also our prices are literally on the packages we receive from our manufacturers and most of our products are shipped right from Italy so you’re paying for quality. They’re delicate products so you just have to be careful. Many big department stores bump up prices to put them on “sale” or your buying really old over stock for tights or leggings. The refund policy is at our cash and on receipts, at least we give credit notes so you can exchange, it could all be final sale.

You sound like a disgruntled employee who lost her job because you could not meet the high standards that the owners set for their staff. Fancy Sox is a great company to work for, i have been there many years. They offer excellent customer service and great selection at the same price as the department stores.

Owners are very rude and told me to fix my hair and makeup despite the lady who told me had a bald patch and frizzy hair.

It's extremely overpriced and you can find the exact same items at a large department store for way way less.

The gimmick is that the prices are marked up because they provide personalized customer service to your needs but they are passive aggressive and rude, id rather shop alone at a department store.

The return policies are ridiculous and a way to trap you so they can make more money, they don't care about the customer

I just checked out this page planning on a shopping excursion tomorrow. After reading the reviews, believe me that I will be searching for something else or somewhere else for my friend's birthday gift.
Part of it is the terrible reviews but perhaps more importantly is that the owner/manager has not responded to a single one of the negative reviews nor offered a single word in defence.
Wake up! In this day and age, customer service is sooooo important and if 10 people are taking the time to write a negative review, you can rest assure that a thousand people were dissatisfied. And even tho they didn't write a revie, they undoubtedly told their friends. Ottawa is a small city. Bad PR can put you out of business.

I was in your store yesterday morning, November 17/15, and bought 2 pairs of stockings that I saw in the window and fell in love with. I told the sales girl I was from Toronto so obviously an exchange is not a possibility. She can tell I am 5'1. I am not hiding that fact! She doesn't mention that the stockings are made very long and sells them to me nonetheless. This morning, I open up the stockings and realize how long they are - made for someone who is 5'10 at least. I am in Toronto now and unable to return them. I call her this morning to advise her of this and she says "you didn't tell me they were for you." Wow! Now, here I am stuck with not one but two pairs of stockings that I paid over $50 for and cannot wear them. She as a salesperson needs to know her stock and know how the stockings fit before selling them or at least open them up in front the customer so they know what they are buying. I am so frustrated and mad that I spent that kind of $ on stockings and cannot wear them. You guys need to train your staff much better. I would never go back. Bad, bad customer service.

I recently went into Fancy Sox wanting to buy my wife a couple pairs of hosiery. Thankfully the courteous sales clerk helped me out BUT she made sure to explain their "No refund" policy. Thankfully my wife loved the presents and I wanted to repay my gratitude to the clerk.

Until today, I had been a long-time, regular customer of the business. Today, I attempted to exchange a pair of very expensive tights which had developed large holes after only one wearing. I was ignored at the counter for several minutes when it was obvious that I was not there to buy. I was then 'dealt with' by a staff member who stared ahead and repeated over and over like an automaton "no refunds, no exchanges" until I asked to speak with the owner. She was standing at the counter, ignoring me, while ringing in a customer, and at this point stuck her in finger IN HER EAR to block out my request until I insisted that she deal with me!! At that point the owner turned to the staff member and said, in front of me, "she obviously doesn't understand." Among the other offensive comments she made while explaining why she refused my request to exchange defective merchandise was the statement that she never takes back such merchandise because it forces customers to buy more which is good for her business. I left when she started to accuse me of creating the problem with the tights by not cutting my toenails. For the sake of $40.00 they have forever lost me as a customer and I will share this story widely.

I wish I had found this site prior to my purchase!, I had a pair of linen pants that required a nude pair of underwear . The sales associate suggested undie-tectable spanx in nude. She suggested the high wasted version. There is a picture of before and after on the sales counter. I made the $75.00 purchase went back to the Westin hotel attached to the Rideau center in Ottawa-tried them on Took a picture and promtly returned to the store within no more than 5 mins. After showing the sales associate my picture and asking for a refund, I was then told I was overweight the linen pants did not fit and there were no refunds , she then told me to go back to my room and pull the underwear down on my butt as then it would work. I can assure you I am NOT overweight but this is not the point, even if I weighed 200lbs she had no right to even suggest it, ( she was overweight but I didn't mention it to her as it was irrelevant ) Stay away from fancy sox the only thing fancy is the price. I have reached out to Spanx I hope they remove their line from this store it does not do the brand justice. The spanx online store offers full refunds!!

I've shopped at Fancy Sox for about 20 years (both St Laurent and Rideau locations). I appreciate their great selection in a town which still to this day has virtually NO choice when it comes to hosiery. I've been lucky enough to have never needed a refund...until last month. I purchsed a pair of leggings ($45.00) for my daughter's birthday. When I brought them home, I realized that the colour did not match up with the rest of her outfit, so the very next day I popped by Fancy Sox to make a return. The item had NOT been opened, it was very clearly in its original packaging, and I had a recept. I explained that it was the wrong shade of brown, To my utmost surprise I was told that they do not do refunds! I am a regular shopper there and the staff knows me well. This is obviously a very firm rule (as you can see they don't bend it even for the loyal long-term customers). I told them this is a poor business policy. In my opinion the only reason they are still in business is quite simply because they have no competition in this city. If another equally well stocked hosiery shop were to step in with better customer service, Fancy sox would be forced to revise theirs, or to close. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for not accepting unused, unopened merchandise!

I made a recent purchase with my daughter for a pair of tights that cost us $36 dollars. I paid cash with exact change the girl handed me my bag and we left. About 10 mins later we found the same tights at Sears for $8 so I returned to the store to get a refund. My daughter went in first and was refused. I then went in and again refused. The clerk remembered serving me and said so when I insisted that I wanted my money back she showed me the policy which says not returns if you try them on. My daughter did not. The owner was rude and unhelpful and the clerk kept a smug smile on her face the whole time. I was not happy at all. My daughter came back into the store yelling and I asked her to leave. I told the owner that the clerk neglected to give me a receipt she said that was impossible and then called security I was not yelling or threatening. The owner then suggested that I must be a thief if I don't have a receipt. She did this in front of all patrons in the store. I would never shop there again and please know that you can get anything they have there at Sears for 1/4 of the price less the obnoxious owner.

Rude owner at the Rideau store
I just had the worst experience at the Fancy Sox store at Rideau.

I had purchased a Spanx product a couple of days ago for $65, and came home to find a rip on the leg, and the package looked like it had been opened before (there was remnants of tape that used to be there). I went back to see if I could at least get an exchange, and she offered to sew it for me. Not very professional, so when I commented on how I would never shop there again, she was very rude, at one point telling me to shut up.

I would never shop there again - and I'm going to file an official complain with whoever I can to make sure people know this is the treatment you get. They're very nice to you when you purchase something but no one to help you if something goes wrong.

I also bought a pair of stockings that had a hole in them after I put them on for the first time.
The manager was rude and refused to replace my merchandise.
I WOULD NEVER shop there again, and recommend that others stay away.

the manager herself tries on items, and puts them back if she decided she does not like them (UNSANITARY!!) and will also put back returned items with defects, for re-sale! . she also an extremely racist woman toward people of asian backgrounds, forcing her staff to "watch them, theyre sneaky and steal everything"

i have been working at fancy sox for many years and the owner does not try on pantyhose and puts them back for sale, nor does she re-sell anything that has been tried on. that would be discusting. just like we do not take back worn merchandise we do not resell anyhting that has been worn or tried on by anyone. further more, the owner is not a racist against anyone, you sound like you are. you are a bad person trying to get even with a good company for personal reasons.

The customer service I received at Fancy Sox was so horrible that I will never shop there again. To say that the manager at Fancy Sox Rideau Centre is rude would be a compliment to her. I will never shop there again.

Fancy Sox likes to mislead consumers in the fact that they sell you a prodoct (in my case 2 items) and tell you that it is returnable for refund....what they neglect to tell you is that if you pay cash or debit for your transaction they WILL not give you debit or cash refund but would have refunded it to a credit card.

This company is stealing from consumers
