nearly signed my life away with this company..
Having recently graduated, I was on the look out for a job. Real Care called me within the week to promise me a job, saying they'd love to hire me and have me start work as soon as this weekend. She scheduled me for an interview.

When I arrived a little early to my interview, no one was at the front desk. I waited in an empty room for some time, until a lady came around, saying she was running a meeting and was a bit late. That's no problem, but for nearly 40 minutes, my interviewer was in the next room giggling and talking about her weekend plans.

When it was time for my interview, there WAS no interview. She asked me when I could start working, and quickly became angered that I had no vehicle. It stated very clearly on their website not having a vehicle was not a problem. As it turns out, this agency is nothing but a scam. They pay barely $1 over minimum wage to do the job of a person who gets paid at least $5-8 over minimum wage. She stated as an employee of Real Care, you are on call 24/7/365. You're essentially an on-call "substitute" for people in facilities that call out sick with short notice. You have no schedule, no guaranteed hours. Nothing. She handed me a 60 page booklet of terms and conditions and told me to sign right away. I read through the booklet carefully. If I signed, I was promising I would not apply, accept, or volunteer at ANY of the personal care homes in the city Real Care had on their huge 3-page list while I was working for Real Care or 6 months after. She guaranteed me ZERO hours per week, "but could be 5 shifts per week, you never know". While I read through the paperwork, she kept asking me if I was done reading yet, and if I signed yet. She turned her back and started making and receiving calls, at one point to begin YELLING at a Real Care employee (could have been me in that case, if I signed those papers..) who was confused about their time sheet.

I'm a grown man, married with 2 wonderful children.. and to be belittled and disrespected by a company that's said to provide compassionate home health care? I would avoid applying with this company based on my personal experience. To those of you that have received quality are from Real Care, the INDIVIDUAL employee is to thank. This company feels like a middle man, not valuing their current or prospective employees as they should. Never would I expect anyone I care about to accept a job with this company, people in this field are to be valued, respected and treated like humans, the way we do our clients, patients or residents. I am under the impression the interviewer (owner? CEO?) has no experience in the care-giving field, but solely as a manager or office administrator of sorts, because this is NOT how you treat people. Dignity, compassion, and respect.. it's not difficult.

Absolutely worst company to work for.
Would rather work at McDonald or some place where you treated little better.

Your High Standards are Appreciated
For 18 months my mother was a client of REALCARE. As a result, I found myself working very closely with the REALCARE staff as well as their managment team. I and my family were very impressed with the quality of service which my mother received from REALCARE. We were particularly impressed with the attention to detail which showed itself both at the management level as well as the delivery of care. Clearly, the individuals chosen to deliver the services to the clients were carefully reviewed by management to ensure high
standards were always maintained. I have no hesitancy in recommending REALCARE to any party which might have need of it'services.

wouldnt recommend them either as an employer or as a health care provider. Steer clear of them and call someone else if you must. Care only about the almighty buck, not about theyre clients.

I just finished reading your derogatory comments about my company.

It is important to note when you make comments about a company, whether they be negative or positive, that you are able to substantiate said comments.

In my opinion, failing to sign your name to these comments shows you are a coward and lack integrity.

If I do not have a response from you by March 23/10, I will be forwarding this on to our Coporate Lawyers who will follow through with an investigation.

Do not even listen to the president and CEO's comments on your review. How is she/he going to find who you are to take to her corporate lawyers? Unfortunately, the internet is free reign to write what you like.

And from the answer from CEO, she/he sounds like a spoiled brat who cant take criticism. Take the criticism and learn CEO.
