A Mobile Tradition for Over 60 Years John A. Bosco was born in Farrell Pennsylvania May 23, 1924. He attended Farrell High School, graduated and was enlisted in the armed services where he served his country in the Army Air Corps. His occupation as an aircraft insrtument technician in WWII would be a prerequisite to his talent and skill as a jewelry designer. After the war, being led by a need for a career, the use of small tools on small instruments spawned the idea to attend jewelry design school. He graduated New Castle Jewelers School in 1947. Seeking a change of climate he move to Mobile later that year where he took employment at Ross Jewelers located then next to the Saenger Theater. He worked there for over 20 years. During that time he developed his craft and his reputation as a fine jeweler. During those years, he met his wife Goldie Jean, who later became not only a mother of two children, but John's business partner. In 1969, together they opened a wholesale trade shop doing repairs, diamond setting and custom work for many of the local stores. With a growing reputation for quality work, he opened a retail facility located in the Yester Oaks Shopping Center. The company thrived there for 34 years. Today Richard Bosco takes pride in this family tradition and holds true to the ideals and concepts of his Dad. Jewelry is an art form and the display should be considered a gallery for all to enjoy. For any gift, or special occasion, John Bosco Jewelers is and always will be place where you can browse, admire, and enjoy friendly conversation.
