OH MY GOD! Dont sign up for this. They are scammers. They have a lot of hidden charges and when you cancel your account, they try to scam you and say you owe money and its going to collections. Thry dont say what its for. I paid every single month, yet i owe them money? I dont think so. Scammers.

I was surprised to see all the negative reviews for She's Fit. I went to the Burquitlam location for three years and didn't have any problems, staff was always friendly and helpful and the gym was a good value for the money you pay. I left the country and had to cancel my membership, I was two days after the notice period, to which I was informed I would have to pay the additional month. I thought this was unfair and wrote an email to management, my money was quickly refunded and no further charges were made to my account.

I went into the north road location and canceled my membership. Have there document which says no money oweing. There are now trying to collect money from me after cancelation done. Credit company has called and explained to them. My only option is to go to small claims or better yet take this matter to the newspaper. Do not join this club equipment was broken half the time as well. Feel sorry for staff. Hope this helps. Frustrated

i dont know what all you people are talking about - this gym is my favorite gym to workout at - the staff are very helpful and the gym is huge - you never have to wait to get onto a machine you want - the tanning bed and stand up bed are always clean and so are the washrooms - i have had no problems with my contract as i actually go to the gym (as this is the plan when you sign up) and i actually make use of the money i spend on my membership - i pay no more then 20$ a month and i am an elite member so i can go to any of the she's fit gym's - i prefer the weight machines here too as they are not the air machines like at the highgate gym - the people that are complaining are the ones that sign up for a membership and dont use it then forget to cancel it on time or dont do it properly - my mom signed up here and decided she wasnt going enough so she cancelled her account and had no problem at all - i noticed some of the complaints are from a few years ago so maybe things have changed but i have been going for the past 2 years and absolutely love the place

Hi, I thought I would comment on this page since I was a former employee of Just Ladies Fitness a few years ago. Everything that everyone is saying about the gym is correct and then some. They owner is a money hungry man who doesn't care for his employees or the members. There is a high turn over rate because the employees are paid minimum wage and are treated very poorly by management. As a result, customer service is not of high priority for the employees - they could really care less. We have to clock in a couple minutes before or shift and if we are a minute late clocking in, we do not get paid for the minute and get spoken to by management.

When the owner comes into the facilities, we are told to be on our best behaviour and not talk to him at all. He does not acknowledge us and only speaks with management.

When equipment gets broken, or facilities needs repairs, we as the employees send out repair notices to our "repair guys" immediately but we don't see anyone come and fix the equipment for weeks. As a result, the members complain to us when we have nothing to do with it.

I would definitely not recommend this gym to anyone. It's a shame Trevor Linden agreed to do business with this man but obviously did not know his true colours...

I had a membership with shes fit in abbotsford for a year, thats what i signed to. Shes fit has still taken money out of my bank account for the 2 months following. I called them and told them that the contract i signed was for a year and my year is up. The have also taken out the yearly maintenance fee. They told me that i need to come into the club and cancel as it states on their contract. I never knew I had to cancel, my ignorance for not reading the whole contract has cost me. So I said that I will pay for the past two months that my membership has expired but I refuse to pay for maintenance on the club I wont be attending. She said sorry cant be done, and because she says I have to give 30 days notice they will be withdrawing Junes payment as well! I honestly believe this company to be thieves. I advise everyone to NOT join this gym, they don't care about their members and only care about money.

I read the other comments and I’m not surprised, this company and its values is something to be investigated. Although I know it sounds like a sob story, and by no means do I blame a club for my medical problems nor do I ask for pity because of these medical problems but including those stories helps show how little compassion this company has. For a “ladies only” facility they do not represent women at all.

I am so sorry for the other two comments on here, those ladies did not deserve that treatment, and I truly feel for each situation.

I originally joined Just Ladies in 2005, was a member for a year and then I moved to Ontario with a boyfriend whose job was there. I gave the club a month’s notice and they said as long as I provided proof that I had moved my contract would be cancelled. I arrived in Ontario, had all my identification switched over, and faxed the new information to Just Ladies. The next month, monthly dues were taken out my account. I called to ask why and was told the fax was hard to read so they didn’t accept it. No one called to tell me that, they just charged me again. I faxed it again and I called to verify it was clear, I was told yes. The next month, dues were taken from my account. I called and was told that I was within 30km of one of their affiliate clubs and had to join there. This club was NOT a ladies only club, just had a ladies only area within the gym and was an hour bus ride from my house. I told them it wasn’t plausible for me to join this gym, they didn’t care.

Shortly after that I had appendix surgery, I developed a deep vein thrombosis (blood clot) after surgery, and they were able to find out I had an underlying blood disorder. I was placed on blood thinners for life and left to do physio therapy to gain use of my leg as it had been damaged because of the clot. I was 24 and had to use a walker, it was a very hard and emotional time in my life.

I let the gym know I definitely could not be a member anywhere, and provided a note from my doctor. They didn’t accept the note as it was after the fact they said. I wrote to head office and was given a cold response of “a contract is a contract” etc. I had to take out a $700 loan to pay out the remainder of my membership, during a time that I was receiving no income.

When I moved back to Vancouver I was determined to find a new club, but again Just Ladies Fitness was a block from my house and I stupidly joined on the condition I wouldn’t have to sign a contract. I was a member for 2 years, and again the club was disappointing, not in classes or equipment but staffing. The only thing that kept me a member was the Thursday night class I loved and the location. I left as She’s Fit was taking over.

In October of 2009 I cancelled my membership as I was moving to Mission BC to upgrade schooling. When I arrived back in October 2010 I went in to rejoin the gym. Thinking that maybe She’s Fit was a better company, I was wrong. I signed up, and was told I would need to pay a $20 card fee. I explained I still had my old card, it was a She’s Fit card and still in perfect condition. The girl told me I couldn’t use that card because I would need to be issued a new membership number, they would be treating me like a new member. I sucked it up and paid the $20. The girl also took a new picture for my card. Over a month later (last night) I was given my “new” card. It is identical to my original card INCLUDING the membership number, AND my old picture! When I called today to ask the girl why I paid $20 to get an identical card she said in the same breathe that they found my old number and they were treating me as a new client. That doesn’t even make sense. And why take a new photo and use my old photo? I was informed I could get a new picture done and be issued a new card, she clearly doesn’t “get it” and also told me it’s a “head office thing”. No mind of her own I guess. The staff there has been referred to by members and by training staff as useless barbies.

I am disappointed in the club and mostly myself for allowing this to go on. I am doing it for convenience of location, but wondering if it’s worth it anymore. These people are money hungry, heartless jerks. I don’t care if “head office” says so; I also don’t know how someone works for a company like that. Furthermore, this last time when I signed up it was a Thursday and I paid in full all fees for card, and that month. Less than a week later I get an email from the membership girl saying that she hasn’t received my banking information. I explained I’d bring in a void cheque that following Thursday when I came for class, and questioned her why she would require it immediately as I was fully paid for the month. She responded saying they do this for MY interest so I’M not charged an NSF fee. Um, really? No sweetie, you want your security on my money, and maybe you should be schooled what a NSF is. I cannot be charged that if you don’t have my banking information, how do you not know this? I teasingly wrote back questioning her on it, and she talked circles, clearly not knowing what I was talking about and getting defensive. This company is a joke.

I signed up for a 1 year contract, with a 10 day cancelation term...that evening I went home and my husband expressed an interest in joing a gym WITH me...so I called the gym the very next day and told them the great news of my husbands interest, but that it unfortunatley meant I would be joing a gym elsewhere. They said no problem, send in a letter confirming your cancelation and all would be good. At this point I had not even gotten my photo taken for my official gym card...

I sent in my letter and my husband and I joined a gym...all was good, we had a fantastic time working out together...and I think it even brought us closer together as a couple!...approx 6 months later I received a call from Just ladies fitness stating that my account was in arrears...I explained the story...they didn't care...they admitted recieving my letter and understood full well my intent to cancel, but stated that since the letter I sent was not technically sent via "registered mail" that technically I did not cancel as per my contract and that my account was now being sent to collections and that the full amount of almost $500 was due in full now!...I was FLOORED!

To top that all off...I was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after joining their gym and subsequently the new gym my husband and I had joined together...when they had called I had just had my mastectomy and was about to start a 8 months of chemotherapy, radiation and reconstructive surgeries, so my husband and I had ceased going to the gym while we prepared for the fight of our lives...while their collection agents called I was going through the chemotherapy (YUCK)...and they had the nerve to say I was lying on several occasions...I explained that even if I did not officially send the "registered letter" that they understood my intent to cancel and that alone (on a customer service level should have been enough) they disagreed...I explained then, that even if I did not cancel, I can no longer attend the gym now anyway due to my health issues and that under the assumption of compassion they should release me from this contract...they disagreed. I explained that I had proof of joining another gym, and asked them to show proof that i even attended their gym once...or asked why then did I not even have the membership card yet...

Throughout my battle with cancer I had to deal with this gym, the total lack of compassion, frequent times of being called a liar. (as if I was using cancer as an excuse to try and get out of the contract) due to principle I could not bring myself to pay for this contract. I own a business, am self empoyed have two young children and until now had perfect...and I mean flawless credit! but I have never....and I mean never dealt with a total disregard for common sense and customer service in my life!

The thing is I think the gym itself is beautiful, the equipment was wonderful, they had many classes and ameneties available which is why I wanted to join in the first place...but the customer service is awful...no matter how many times I explained my story they were rude and abusive, and no matter who I spoke with it was the same awful attitude! from entry level up to management...they all talked to me like garbage...as if they assumed I was just a slacker looking to get out of a contract because I was lazy...I mean it was just awful!

Perhaps the mentality of your typical "work out nutt" has gone to their heads too much and the "no excuses" to working out has taken on a whole new level of obsession...so much so that they cannot even tell the difference between a ligitimate concern or a lazy excuse. Whatever the problem...I would never recommend this gym...the overall attitude is bordering on abuse, it is just not a healthy environment and I found it disgusting.

As of now I have not paid this bill...and NEVER will...I have proof that I joined another gym, paid all those dues, didn't even get to the point of having my photo taken for their gym pass...the other gym even released me from my contract when diagnosed!!! But this gym is just appauling! my health is now on the upturn...and I will be taking this matter to a legal level...they had just gone too far :o(

There are many amazing gyms in the greater Vancouver area...Just ladies fitness, is unfortunatley not one of them!
