MilArm Co Ltd, Edmonton Reviews (4)
I been coming to milarm since 1990, find that very honest and straight forward, price very comparable to the other shop.
I have been dealing with Millarm since Mr Kerr started.I have found them to be very honest and have a good stock on hand. When you are paying cash you should be able to make offers on guns.Which I do and have been successful.Usually people treat you on how you treat them. But that Gord can be a little overbearing at times,I think he is a wantabe cop.He sure has enough of them in his pocket.Watch yourself in there, lose your temper and the place would be full of swat.Other than that the place is good.BBB says they are excellant.
Since the Long gun registry died, I decided now's the time to "load up", so after I got my PAL I visited every Gun Shop in Alberta an figure out who I would do business with.
MilARM has been getting a bad rap the past 10 years but my visit has shown it to be an excellent lil' store. I will quickly list the Pro's & Con's an sum up the gripes others have had
PRO:
1. They stock only the "in demand" items so thou they lack volume, they stock what people are buying at reputable prices, remember you pay more than say what you will find at a Box Store like Cabela's but it's the quality of stock you are INVESTING in when you buy at Mom & Pop stores. They have all the in demand items that you never find available at the box stores.
2. Excellent used gun selection
3. Beautiful huge museum upstairs
4. Helped defeat the Long gun registry, pay your respects
5. Great source of surplus gear, especially ammo, they always stock the hard to find stuff like surplus .30-06 springfield. I know of only 6 stores in Western Canada that stock the hard to find & highly sought items an Milarm is one of them.
CONS:
1. Downtown Edmonton is full not nut-jobs an crazies an MilARM is right smack dab in the crazy zone, so sometimes the staff gets a little "frazzled" so if you are not some loony tune I believe the staff are very kind & competent. The owners are great but now & then they get a few bad employees that do not know what they are doing but that's like any store.
2. Lack of variety, if you want volume go to Whole Sales sports or Cabela's but I hate those places because they are like Wal-mart, a whole lot of Chinese made junk.
3. No shooting range
4. While their website is good, it could be better because it does not come close to showing you what they really have in stock. You have to actually visit it twice a month to catch all the good deals. It's old school business style.
Great store. Lots of firearms and surplus items. Shopped around for a target 22 Mag. they had what I wanted in stock and at a better price than online. will use again.
