David E. Koon Jr., MD, completed his undergraduate studies at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, and received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia. He completed his internship and orthopedic residency at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Georgia, and currently serves as a clinical associate professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He served with distinction in the U.S. Army and had tours at Fort Gordon, Ft. Rucker in Alabama, and Vicenza, Italy. Dr. Koon is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the Christian Medical Association and the South Carolina Medical Association. He and his wife, Terri, are originally from the Columbia area. They have three children.
