Chetan A. Patel, MD, received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and returned to MUSC to complete clinical fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. Dr. Patel's special interests include radial artery access for cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention (angioplasty and stenting of coronary arteries), peripheral artery interventions and structural heart disease, including Patent Foramen Ovale and Atrial Septal Defect Closure. He also implants the Watchman device for stroke risk reduction in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
