I can’t imagine how this old lady insult customers at their back and laugh with that indian giy next to her. I just ignore it until it’s my turn and ask me the mode of payment. I even showed my credit card and tell her twice obviously it was a visa coz I’ve already showed it. I just bought some chocolate now knowing this old lady TERESA (on duty may 22nd midnight last counter) will ruined my night that i almost finish my chocolate just to calm my self and not to level myself on that super mean looks like stress old lady showing attitude to the customers. She deserves suspension and if I were the owner, i will terminate her right away. She shouldn’t treat customers like that.

As much as possible my family would only go to Sobeys Danforth to buy their sale Items for AirMiles, or other special items on sale. The location has some friendly staff however what we saw last Night April 17 at 10:20 PM was concern. On this day Sobeys Air Miles had a promotion for 2 pack salmon you purchase you receive 50% off. That was why we wanted to take advantage of the great offer.

We were looking for the Salmon especial and headed to the Fish section. When we got to that Seafood section I saw 2 men with the Sobeys Shopping cart parked right at the Salmon section.
I thought at 1st they were customers. As they had the cart. around 20 seconds passed I realized these are cleaning staff. The 2 men were chatting and not even caring that my wife and I and another customer were trying to look at the Atlantic Salmon.
We took videos of the Cleaning Staff that was how upset My wife and I were about the attitude.
They opened their Bag and took their Snacks, drinks and Dinner out.
One Gentleman in Orange started to exercise. They saw us trying to look at the Salmon however would not Move. as the 2 gentlemen I think they are Indian or Sikh ( due to a Turban on his head) on one of them would had Blocked our way to check the Salmons.
I had to ask one of them to kindly move the cart which he did for a Moment and s I was looking at the Salmon proceeded to Push the Shopping cart Back to the Salmon Cooler section next to me.

Within a few seconds 3 more cleaning staff came and joined them. and started to eat and drink. The next thing was they took the basket out of the cart and placed their Food on the cooler. All of the cleaning staff stood around the Salmon cooler or fridge and had their Snack or Dinner there. It is a good thing I took videos.
Another cleaner proceeded next to the meat section where the burgers of Jaimie Oliver sat down on the Box and also ate his dinner.
This again is right at full view of customers. Very inconsiderate.
I am sure that there must be policies ion place when these cleaning staff were to have their breaks. At least respect the customers.

Also the other disappointing issues were the cleaning staff closed off or taped out 3 sections as they took their break.

They mopped the 1 area. I get it they need to wait for it to dry. But to shut off 3 areas all at once then proceed to have all their breaks without even bothering to see if the floors were dry to walk on?
I called Sobey s HO and spoke a another none caring Customer care who promised to get back to me in a few minutes. That never happened. That call was done at 930 am. April 19.
I finally decided to call the Supermarket. The manager Nick Lucareli apparently was on vacation. Spoke with Assistant Rene. She sounded very concerened. That the cleaning staff would be ignorant enough and not think of the customers. I gather it is their culture. Not thinking anything wrong on their actions.

She promised that they will call back. It does not matter it is their reputation if the incident continues.

At least she expressed more care and attention that the Sobeys Customer care person I spoke with.
Hopefully this ignorant cleaners Sobeys hired will be more conscientious and think about customers minding their Rudeness when they Block you off when you are shopping.

SOBEY's MANAGEMENT you have to check out your stores during none busy times too. Unfortunately you left the store with none caring inexperienced staff that are too busy doing their own jobs.

This store seems to hire alot of family members when one goes to find a job that is friends with someone they seem not too care "why" is that just something that needs improving. I do have one good review "Toula" one of the cashiers there is pretty fast she goes through customers like she didn't have any.

Catherine is the best there, she is on the service desk most of the time, 5 days a week but there is 2 other girls that come in for the shift after hers one bigger black girl and another girl that work customer service they are so rude, these two girls are the ones that are disrespectful and when they change shift they talk about there buisness and joke around as we stand there and wait, I have asked for a manager many times and they just say he isn't around and they do hide there name tags that is why I have to describe her in this way, they should not be working with the direct public, the girl that does the flowers is so nice and pleasant too.

All the cashiers seem to be pretty helpful especially Doris and another lady whose name I have forgotten. They are all quite courteous. There's one afro-canadian guy who works there, whenever I ask him for something I can't find he actually goes with me and points it out.Great service

Maybe staff has changed now but I've never had a problem with anybody there, in fact if anything their pretty pleasant considering the late hours I usually shop at.

I couldn't believe how this Sobeys stay in business. The only reason i shop there is because it is close to home and gives aeroplan points. Today, on a weekday, i waited what seemed like forever in a line to go through the cash. There were only two cashiers open and many people working in the store. Then, i wanted the cashier to add some bags of earth to my bill and she said that i would have to wait in another line and actually bring the bags in from the outside. I did not buy them and though i would buy them at another store that had better customer service. Some of the older cashiers are quite nice but there was a younger one that was so rude to me in the past that i am amazed that she can get away with such poor customer service

Since I have become extremely busy, I have entered Sobeys store on Danforth more often than before (the store is open 24 hours) for making late shopping. At first, I found it pleasant, but that impression lasted only a couple of days. After that, I have encountered awkward situations that were created especially by the head cashier and the woman at the express line cashier. They are beyond rude, very aggressive, bully and happy to make the customers’ life as difficult as possible. They always slap the groceries, throw the rewards cards on the counter, make offensive remarks about the customers waiting in queue and let them wait longer as necessary when changing the shift without warning or coordinating with other cashiers. Meanwhile, they make a lot of gossips and a lot of fun about the people waiting for them to open a cashier. Most of the cashiers are closed during the rush hours in the evening. They do not know what is the meaning of words such as „Thank you”, „Please”, „Welcome”. There is no occasion when those women would refrain from misbehaving. It happens continuously and even today I received from the same woman working at the express line cashier the usual „treatment”. Every time when I asked their names or call their supervisors, they obstinately refused and turned their back. Moreover, they try always to hide their the name tags under some sweaters they wear. I complaint online, but I never received any sign from the management. Too bad. This staff really casts a very negative shadow on the company’s image. I decided not to enter that store ever again. I found that Sobeys’ competitors have a better customer service for less money spent there.

I had a run in with a cahier to Tula ( she was the head cashier that day …very sad…..). I wanted to make a complaint with the manager and she would not call the manager. I had to go to the serves counter to get them to call . Of course no manager he had car problems and was not there. They call some else and he took my name and # for the manager to call. No one called I called later and the manager said he was there …..
Have not hear from them its been 3 months

I have been shopping at this store for years, and in about the last year, I am definately going elsewhere for my shopping. The Butcher so disrespectful, and 2 particular cashiers, so rude. When I asked the cashier if she could please double bag one particular bag which was tearing, and that I have arthritis of my hands, and showing her the inflammation and swelling in my hands, her reply was " your not the only one with bad hands, I have bad hands too
and looked away, so very disrespectful. Will not return to that particular store again.

decent, broad array of products. not enough organic or health choices. staff are not the most helpful, except at the cash register and only sometimes. if it was'nt open at odd hours, I would not choose this store. Better since the renovation.
