After completing his residency, Dr. El-Halawany has completed three fellowships. The first in gastroenterology from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine. The second in hepatology and liver transplantation from Temple University Hospital and a third in advanced interventional endoscopy from the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He is also fluent in Arabic.
