Benisasia Funeral Home - CLOSED

Benisasia was ordered to CLOSE their Queen St. location in Toronto and all signage has been removed. The Mississauga location was under the operation of a Funeral Director selected by the Ontario Funeral Board, however even with a new person in charge the staff still committed violations and now they are also CLOSED. The owners licenses have been suspended. The Licensing Tribunal affirmed the suspensions. Use another funeral home. it is sad as this funeral home did an exceptional business in excess of 500 calls a year. The only way this home will succeed now is if the name is changed and new owners and staff are brought in. Their removal vehicle was in poor condition as well so all in all this home had no respect for the deceased or their families.

Benisasia in Mississauga is a very elegant facility but that is where the good stops. I have been to a service there where my friends parent was oozing fluids from her mouth, ears and eyes during the visitation. Twice, a funeral attendant came into the room and wiped these areas clean. It was quite disgusting. While having a coffee in the atrium I overheard another family with a viewing complaining of the very same thing. They said their grandfather was leaking a yellow substance from his mouth. They kept wiping it clean. Now I know why. The Board of Funeral Services has had to intervene and take over. Now I see where they have ordered Benisasia CLOSED. They have been cutting corners and skimping on embalming fluids causing these purges in the bodies on view. Disgusting. Go to Meadowvale where you will be satisfied. Stay away from here even if they re-open. Your loved ones deserve better. their fees are also higher than others - much higher for substandard care and service.

We recently had a service at Benisasia Funeral Home. The staff was very nice, the prices were very reasonable as we did some shopping around. We also checked Meadowvale Crematorium, found that place to be very cold. I wish they had the crematorium at their own place.
Despite all the negative media comments, we were very much pleased with the services we received. Thank you to all the staff.

I asked my son (age 35) where he would like his funeral services to be held and he elected Benisasia(as it was the only place he had attended funerals).

Upon my Son's departure, we made final arrangements with Benisasia; however, Benisasia does not cremate. As such, we were required to go to Meadowvale Cemetary, Crematorium & Mausoleum to make the cremation arrangements. We walked into Meadowvale's premises and thought this is where my Son would like to be - the atmosphere/ambiance, surrounding, services, quietness, location of the Crematorium were all perfect - so we decided to move my Son's body to Meadowvale.

I was prepared to pay Benisasia for their services (pick-up, storing and embalming of the body). I was not prepared to pay Professional & Staff Services fees of $650 (additional) - what service? Benisasia would not release my son's body until $1,610.25 was paid (not by telephone or electronically, but in person). Further, it appeared that some supporters called for information or showed up at Benisasia for the funeral services - they were not directed to Meadowvale. For such a large service fee, I believe they should have provided information of the change. What do you think?
