South Side Memorial Chapel, Edmonton Reviews (1)
My mother passed away suddenly 5 years ago. We used the Southside Memorial chapel because they really did a great job with my fathers funeral 2 years before and my mother made arrangements at that time to make preparations for her own. The following is an excerpt from the letter I sent Southside after the funeral. "I can’t begin to express how upset we are. It seems like there have been too many errors and careless mistakes to excuse how mismanaged our service with Southside has been. This is a time in our lives that we shouldn’t have had to worry about these details; yours is a service that does not allow for carelessness. If it had been only one or two minor slip-ups we certainly would have been able to overlook them, however this was not the case. The quality of service provided for our mom’s memorial did not reflect what our father’s was." I'm not going to bother with the details of the careless service. In fact 5 years is a long time and it's time to move on. However I recently reread the response "apology" that I received from their senior director Laura Prentice and it immediately brought back all of the frustration and heartache of our experience. She not too subtly put the blame back on my sister and myself for every mishap that happened, it was defensive and insulting.
Grieving never ends it becomes less intense.
Insensitivity in the funeral industry should never be tolerated. Experiences should be learned from to improve services. After reading Ms Prentice response I don't believe that will happen.
