Debonair Formal Wear Ltd, New Westminster Reviews (1)
Everything was running smoothly until 2 days before my wedding. Three issues occurred that never should have happened. I had confirmed with the company that nobody in my party should pay for anything or present any form of deposit. I had placed my credit card and also pre-paid and a charge had gone through onto my credit card. My father-in-law went to pick up his tuxedo and was asked for his credit card which was embarrassing to me. Secondly, my father went in to pick up his tuxedo and his measurements were so inaccurate that he wondered if his measurements were done correctly in the first place. Thirdly, my best man went to pick up his tuxedo and was given my tuxedo to try on and only when he was about to walk out the door, they noticed he wasn't the groom. How can a company that specializes in tuxedo rentals not confirm which tuxedo belongs to which person? Perhaps I'm exaggerating, but it's similar to someone else trying on a bride's dress which is unheard of.
I expressed my frustrations and their problem resolution was ridiculous. I received an apology from the manager, Paymani. I told her I would be coming in the next day to pick up my tuxedo so she said she would be fitting me personally to ensure everything went smoothly. The following day I went in, albeit 15 minutes late and she had gone on to another booking. After my fitting, I asked the associate for Paymani to call me. I received no phone call.
On the day I returned my tuxedos, I spoke with Paymani and expressed my frustration and comments about her problem resolution. She claims that she came into work just to do my fitting and give me undivided attention to ensure satisfaction, but that did not make any sense. If she had come into work just for me, then why did she book herself with another client? If you say you are going to be there to personally help me, then I expect this to happen.
Then she turns things around and says that clients book a year in advance. Well I came in 6 months prior to my wedding date and if they were too heavily booked then I would have walked away. As far as I'm concerned, they decided to take my business then I'm just like every other paying customer.
The overall experience was horrible with no empathy or ownership to their errors. If she had swallowed some pride and offered a genuine apology I would be satisfied, but accusing me of not being organized is horrible. I will never go back to this company, nor recommend it. As a person within the service industry with contacts, I will never refer Debonair Formal Wear.
