He is also involved in the advancement of evidence based spine care through review and development of clinical guidelines. Dr. Xu's primary focus is to develop a treatment plan to improve functionality in order to help improve patients' quality of life. He does this through a combination of conservative and interventional modalities (procedures and surgeries). Dr. Xu treats spine disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral spine, coccyx pain, sacroiliac joint pain, piriformis syndrome, post-laminectomy syndrome, sympathetic pain and CRPS (Complex regional pain syndrome), musculoskeletal conditions (muscle pain, tendinopathy, and joint pain), along with many other conditions through a variety of procedures some of which include:- Epidural steroid injections- Facet injections and medial branch blocks- Radiofrequency ablations including Coolief- Spinal cord stimulator trial and implantation- Shoulder, hip, and knee injections including genicular nerve radiofrequency ablation- Sacroiliac joint injections and radiofrequency ablation- Sympathetic nerve blocks- Piriformis injectionsDr. Xu also performs electromyography (EMG) studies to evaluate for carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy, peripheral neuropathy, as well as cervical and lumbosacral radiculopathies.
