Normally I deal with a local florist, where I can go into a shop and see someone face to face, but as my sister lives out of town, I decided to order flowers online from Wesley Berry Florist (through Petals Florist locally). Although I was well in the margin for same-day delivery (I ordered at noon and they have a 3pm cut-off), the florist merely called and left a voicemail at my sister's house, never bothering to attempt delivery even though she lives just a few blocks from the shop (0.3 km by google maps). Flowers arrived a day late, and, one presumes, a day less fresh. And although I was available by phone, no one bothered to call and let me know there was a problem. I called Wesley Berry and got a representative who was clearly very well versed in handling complaints. She was polite but made it clear over and over again no one cared that I was disappointed and that there was nothing she could or would do about it. I certainly hope the flowers weren't horribly wilted, though my sister is likely too polite to mention if they were. Is it strange that I've never heard of a florist that calls to say there is a delivery before bothering to venture out of the shop? I live in a larger city, but perhaps I've just been lucky with the florists I've dealt with. Anyway, if ordering flowers online, and the time of delivery is important to you, I might recommend you attempt to find a company more interested in meeting very basic customer expectations than Wesley Berry / Petals Florist.
