Chan has been part of my career since the beginning model search in the mall. They have given classes that explain everything I need to be a professional model and actress. They only work with the best and ensure my safety as model/actress in the industry. They have really extensive experience in the modeling/acting industry and help me become the best most professional in those areas. Overall, fantastic!

Great atmosphere and lovely people! I have been going to Chan for a few years now and it can't be beat. The classes available are perfect for those just starting in modeling and acting as well as for those with years experience behind them. They are wonderful with getting you the credentials you need to start yourself in either industry, and helping you every step of the way. The staff are knowledgeable and approachable and 100 % there to help. I would recommend this place to everybody and anybody. Love them!

Chan International has been one of the most life changing experiences for me. I've loved acting since i was a small kid, and because I was tall and slim, I had a lot of people tell me that I should be a model: which then sparked something else in me. Though I have only joined Chan four years ago, I regret that I didn't do so sooner. I have always felt that the teachers and Mary herself would always be there to help me towards my dreams and through this, I have come to being a part of the caring and wonderfully supporting Chan Family. I love modeling now with a passion and I know that I will continue to be with Chan for a long time to come: this business is extremely supportive and I have never felt so safe in an agency (from what you can hear from rumors) than the one I have been in.... Way to go Chan, never change!!!!!!

This is the best organization ever! I always have so much fun during the classes, the teachers are so nice and even though people are saying mary is fake it is not true she is the nicest lady I have ever met In the world. She always has the biggest smile in the world. I definitely recommend these classes they are so fun aND a great experience.

Just wanted to say Thank You to Mary and Chan for helping me get into the industry. From multiple movies to TV commercials to modeling gigs to appearances at locations like the Canadian Derby! It has been a blast!!!

I have also enrolled my children and love it when they come home from school and mention how classmates and teachers have seen them the night before on the television!

I have been with Chan for over a year, I have taken two classes with Chan and not only is the content applicable to the industry, it is applicable to life! Building confidence, improvising, learning how to communicate and conduct oneself in a professional manner, these are all skills I have learned through my time at Chan ( in addition to acting and modelling skills). As a professional, my training at Chan has equipped me with skills that have helped me both in the entertainment world, and in my career in the corporate world. Not only that, but I have had the chance to audition and be a part of projects that I never would have dreamed of before. Because of Chan, I have been exposed to opportunities that I never would have imagined were possible for me before.

I am so grateful to the Chan team and to have the privilege of working with them. I have been able to get to know Mary and her staff and see their sincerity and commitment to the development of the people they work with. Mary Chan has a true gift of not only seeing the talent and potential in others, but also in fostering an environment where it is safe to grow and be yourself. I would recommend Chan and the classes to anyone. Even if you are not seeking a full time career in modelling or acting, I truly believe that becoming a part of Chan will benefit and bless you in so many ways.

When I was younger, I was not just your stereotypical awkward teen. I was the most unsociable, introverted, shy and awkward teenager for miles (probably). Now I am going to get straight to the point and tell you how Chan International changed my entire way of life. I started classes (courtesy of a surprise present from my mom) and the first class was interesting. We started with icebreakers to get to know each class mate and the teacher and then we got right down to business. Withing the first class I learned of the importance of presentation and confidence and it really changed how I saw myself. Looking at my posture before, I looked sloppy. No wonder I didn't enjoy going out in public! Over the next couple classes we learned how to hold ourselves while we walk, modeling routines, how to audition for commercials, how to do a commercial and so many other things that you wouldn't get a chance to learn anywhere else. I found that in my everyday life, in school, and even online I was much more outgoing and I was not scared to socialize with people. In school, my teachers noticed a significant improvement in my involvement with class discussions and doing presentations (which we all know were a nightmare). Today I still put all that I have learned into effect whether I'm at school or on the bus, or simply walking down the side walk. I have confidence, and poise, and I am unashamed of who I am. I have even gotten a couple acting jobs from Chan! So whether you are wanting to learn how to act or model, or wanting to improve yourself, I highly recommend Chan International. ( Also, the staff is SUUUPER friendly! It's like walking into a ray of sunshine lol).

I have known and worked for Mary CHAN for almost two decades , and have not met a more amazing, trustworthy, loving and kind women. She has always instilled so much love and kindness into her students. And in this industry, that can give you to confidence you need to move ahead! Love that I am with such an amazing agency and lady and also Loving my new great break through CHAN! Exciting stuff

Well, it's been a long time since I had any dealings with Chan and the oh too sugary sweet, Mary. My two daughters and my oldest son were involved with Chan back in the 90's. My daughters both competed in a 'Look of the 90's' competition during Kdays one year. They both won scholarships out of it. But lo and
behold , they were scholarships to Chan International for classes. The same organization that was sponsoring the competition. Essentially they were just coupons to reduce the price of already overpriced classes. The event that finally convinced me, the wallet in this partnership, to leave Chan, was when my son was invited to a VIP event at Earls restaurant in West Edmonton Mall. David Fralich, a soap star from Young and the Restless was the star of the event. My son had done a weekend workshop with him, thus the invite. They were raffling off a trip to Hollywood and the opportunity to be on the set of the Y & R. My sons name was drawn and he was so excited. We waited and waited and waited...and are still waiting. We never did get that trip and I never did get my money back from purchasing the scam raffle tickets. If you value your hard earned money I suggest you stay away from Chan.

My Mom and I checked out all the agencies in Edmonton and when we met Mary CHAN we knew... She was not like any of the other agencies we met or talked with, and she genuinely cared!!!! We were soo excited, and signed up for my first class with CHAN. It was not cheap, nor was the teaching. I learned SO much, and took them very seriously. The classes helped me with self esteem and prepared me for my first jobs. I have received many jobs from CHAN, as I get called back -I believe because the classes prepared me. I have even received compliments on set and at shoots, getting called back from the same directors and photographers, because of my professionalism. Not only has CHAN helped me in Modelling and Acting, but also in presenting myself - and doing VERY well in areas of my day job - climbing the corporate latter! Seriously worth it - just for that:) The Modelling and Acting industry is VERY competitive, and I believe I have had success in it, because I worked my BUTT off in my classes, I believe in myself (and so did my Mary and my teachers!), and I have built a great relationship with my agency! Sooooo.... If you are ready to take the plunge into this crazy but amazing industry, are willing to put the work in, have thick skin - believe in yourself, and want an agency that will help you.... CHAN is who I recommend!

Chan International is honestly a big ripoff. Although the people are extremely kind, you can tell after a while they just smiling there way into your wallet. The strongly favor people there for the amount of money they have and rarely there talent. It is a good place to meet people, but I payed 2K for helpful classes not someone I can hang out with. When there are opportunities for jobs, they some how always get the news A DAY BEFORE the event or with bigger events (Miss Teen Edmonton) nearly 1-2 weeks. With the price you pay, you don't get what you will deserve.

I usually don't write a review due to my laziness. But if i do, it means something that I think it's either really awesome or really shitty that I would like to let public know!! In this case, I would like to write a positive comment which is super rare to me (you can call me a cynical person..but I don't care about what you guys think) Folks, I had to admit that I thought Chan was fake and unreal...especially the crazy amount of positive atmosphere that I can barely find in Edmonton. But I still wanted to give it try (why not). Guess what!? Best decision ever!! I even took classes to sharpen my public speaking skill and my confidence. I also got many chances to participate to some events (either volunteering/commissioned) I gotta say that they have a solid instructor team!! Each one of them is amazing talented and professional:D

Very misleading, money-grubbing people who run this company. I suggest reaching out to other local talent and modeling agencies within the city such as Mode Models, Circle Talent, or Serendipity Talent.

When Miss universe needed a new modeling agency back in the 90's we were involved with Mary Chan and her company. She said they needed capital to help fund this move and as I had recently lost my father and sold his property I had some extra cash..Mary Chan and her husband Donovan Gobel met with my wife and I and an agreement was made to invest the sum of$50,000.00 in shares of her company. The money was deposited in the company account after which Donovan Gobel informed us that he had put it in the books as a personal loan. Since that time we have never received anything in the way of repayment. We took it to a lawyer and he tried to get them into court for a motion of discovery, but their lawyer kept postponing it. Finally they gave an offer of a hundred dollars a month which was not agreeable. They have continued on since then and never once have they made an effort to contact us or repay the loan. With a minimum 2% interest, that loan would now be worth over a million dollars. It seems ironic that a couple who profess to be upstanding citizens and God fearing Christians can take advantage of people with no intention of repaying the debt owed. My wife and I are now retired and both of us have health issues, are disabled and are struggling to live on CPP and OAS . If your thinking of dealing with these people, think long and hard. Mary and Donovan, if you read these comments, may your God punish you for your misdeeds. All I can do is pray to my God that he will replenish what was taken. Oh, by the way, I'm not of any faith. I've been with chan international for a few months now. Mary Chan is such a sweet,kindhearted and just amazing lady. I took a class with Ms. Amy-Jean which was a self esteem type class. We learnt to be confident and just had fun. I was the tallest student in my class. All the others were about 5'6" and under. I felt too tall,awkward and just uncomfortable as I feel everywhere. Ms. Amy-Jean changed my life forever. She made me realize that being tall is a quality,not to be embarrassed and that tall is beautiful and to be confident in my own skin. Everyone around me sees a change in me. My family,friends,teachers but most importantly myself. I have never stood up so straight with confidence. And now whenever I wear heels in public and I get the looks and stares I take it as a positive look. Thank you so much Amy-Jean you are my inspiration forever and always. I am currently a professional model at Chan and have had many fun experiences meeting new people, learning techniques, and having fun! It is pretty pricey to take a coarse, but I very much recommend it!
They teach in such a great way, unlike you might expect. They teach you how to be confident, healthy, and have fun!

So I went to the woman's show in Edmonton and they had a booth set up. They said they were looking for some new faces and that I should sign up. So I did and a few weeks later I got a call back, Which was cool. So I went in for the interview. Now everything seemed fine when I went in. She asked if I had won the scholarship. ... Turns out it was a $1200 scholarship award to the top 20 in each age category. This scholarship was so that I could do the TEN WEEK training session, then we would do head shots and maybe see about signing after that. So I'm assuming that there are extra costs in this ten weeks and basically it all seems like bogus. I have worked professionally in both modeling and acting and never have I been told that I needed to take their course before I would be hired. I am sure that they do have people that they have signed and gotten into modeling, I just didn't see it when I went in. So if they offer.. go have a look, just don't sign up until you have all the details. Hope this helped someone

I first came into Chan International to talk about the possibilities of pursuing acting. The acting classes at Chan are very informative and fun. I had so many opportunities and am doing things I'v always wanted to. Just last month I worked at the CCMA's with many Country Stars, participated in the Miss Teen Edmonton Pageant, and will be meeting Top International Scouts and Agents next month. The people I've been able to meet are so amazing, and through my experiences at Chan I've been able to make some wonderful friendships. Mary and all the other staff at Chan are all so caring and passionate at what they do, I could never imagine myself with another agency.

Hi . I don't normally do these review things but I just wanted to share my story. I have two daughters that have been involved with chan for years now. I absolutely love the agency. Mary is really helpful and truly cares about the people involved in the agency. Not only is she a great support for my daughters but for me as well. As a single mom I struggle financially, and Mary is really understanding. My daughters have taken numerous courses over the years and its been worth every penny. I have seen them grow as people. They have done some work in the industry, but Even if just for the learning and growing experience its worth it. Highly recommended.

Ok so in the mall I audtioned for the company so I waited two weeks to see if I got in then when I finally looked on my iPad the day it was supposed to be sent and its not there so did I not get in like at least tell me that if they were a real company they would email u to tell u that u didn't get in like there was only 100 that audtioned soo really feel like they don't even care about, the other people and at least tell me why they didn't like soo really they don't care about me don't go for this company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My experience so far with Chan has been very good. The people are friendly and the teachers are nice. After being with Chan I now have more confidence in myself, and I also became a more responsible person. I even got a chance to meet a lot of great international people and famous models through this agency.
