Len's Mill Store

Today (May 30th, 2012) was my first time at Lens Mill London and it was surely my last. I have never been treated so rudely in my entire life as I was today by one staff member in particular. I approached the woman who was standing at the cutting encounter and asked her where i could find material to match the material I had with me (a dress). The woman looked at me as I was the stupidest person on Earth and scolded me for not knowing the exact fabric. Refusing to feel the material, the woman told me to go down aisle 34 and when I turned down aisle 33 en route to aisle 34, I was yelled at for going down the wrong aisle. I proceeded to find a fabric that I thought would work for what I needed it for. I went back to ask the woman a question in which she didn't answer. A man then approached me with a large box on a trolly and just as I was about to move out of his way, the woman yells "Move out of the way." Taken aback, I stopped for a second and said "I have never been treated so rudely at a store in my entire life." The woman fell silent as she was surrounded by colleagues. About two minutes later the woman approached me and began helping me as if she was the most friendly person on Earth. If you don't like people, stay away from retail. I don't recommend this place to anyone. The half star is only because there is a wide selection of fabric.

First of all, I like Len's Mill store and have visited it everytime I am in Cambridge, over the past 20 years. It was the treatment that I received on Sat. Feb.15, 2009 that almost had me walking out. I approached the counter and proceeded to unload my cart of 5 bolts of material. I was told in a rather loud voice "Do not put that stuff on the counter. You are NOT the next customer." I immediately put the material back in the cart and moved away several feet. No other waiting customers were in the area. Other cutters were in the area and were busy with their customers. The person who said this was folding items, so she was obviously not assisting a customer. After several seconds, a customer approached this counter and she waited on them. Another customer came along and she too, was waited on. I remained in my holding pattern, expecting to be called to the counter when it became my turn. The announcement came that the store was closing in 15 min, so of course customers came from other corners of the store. Still, I was not called to be waited on. If my daughter had not come by and forced the issue, I might still be standing there. She said this person is known to be quite rude with customers, but why she picked on me that day, I do not know but it has upset me. I will go back to Len's Mill Store again, but I will never be waited on by this person again. Thank you.

One of my favourite stores. The best yarn selection in the city as well as excellent fabric selection.
