Dr. Shashikant Patil joined Piedmont Physicians Neurosurgery after having served as a Neurosurgeon at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas for the last 6 years. He's treated many patients with complex spine and brain problems. He has special interests in minimally invasive methods for treatment of spinal disorders, complex spine instrumentation and reconstruction for adult spinal deformity, spine and brain tumors, peripheral nerve surgery, and motion preserving treatment of degenerative spines. Dr. Patil is Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and is a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He earned his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore India and went on to train in neurosurgery at LSU Health Sciences Center, The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and the Hague and Leiden University Medical Center.
