We called Jeff from Academic Glass on June 7 to give us a price for wrought iron door inserts and sidelites for our new home in Milton. We had used them in our old house in Mississauga and we were happy with their work. This time, Jeff helped us to choose the design that matched the house and promised to do the door insert the next day and the sidelites 2-3 weeks later. His brother Randy arrived the next day 15 minutes early and put the window in. And Angela called us from the office the moment the sides were ready. They booked a time and Randy and his helper showed up on time and did something we have not see a home improvements company do before- they swept up the mess and left the house clean. The price was excellent and they allowed us to pay over time with post-dated cheques. We then sent them to my husband's parents home in Alton Village where they put in 2 full size wrought iron inserts and they are installing their patio door shutters in a few weeks. My parents are picky people, but they were happy enough with Academic to refer them to my sister in law in Brampton. This company is well organized and respectful. We recommend them highly.

Jeff installed door inserts in our first house in Oakville in 1989. He was selling off a truck with his brother then. The price was right and we never had problems with the units. We used him for our house in Waterdown as well. When we moved to Grimsby last year, he came out and sold us two wrought iron inserts for 990.00. We were quoted less from a guy selling off a truck but he didn't have an actual office to back the warranty and his inserts looked rough. Jeff installed 2 Harmony full size that look fantastic with the transom done. All 3 times we used Academic, we were happy. Academic is reliable and I get the sense he sells only warrantied windows.

We had two full size wrought iron door inserts and some kitchen shutters installed by Academic Glass. They were in on time and they let us pay in six cheques without any problems. Jeff sold us the job and helped us to select an insert that would match the look of our hallway and living room. A good match. We have recommended them to our parents in Stoney Creek and Oakville and yes, we would use them again.

I have used Academic Glass for both of my new homes in Oakville. The first time we ordered stained glass inserts on time, and Jeff helped us to change the glass so it could meet our privacy needs. They were installed on time and they let us pay over time without checking our credit. I appreciated their trust. We then called them to do our next house off West Oak Trails and he again helped us to pick a design for the house. We had seen some of the guys who sell the imitation wrought iron off the trucks but prefered to deal with Jeff. He helped us to pick a design that matched the house style and his price was excellent. We have painted the frames to match the door as he suggested, and it looks excellent. Yes, we would use him again. And Angela was super sweet and reasonable. I used to own a home improvements business in my thirties and know how hard it is to always satisfy the public, but we are happy with them.

I have to say I was very upset by reading the reviews after I purchased my product. But I was pleasantly surprised by the way everything worked out. Our time line was fair (4 weeks)
The product is wonderful and the installers did a wonderful job. As far as customer service everything was handled efficently and in a professional manner. We are also very happy because we have arranged a payment plan. As far as price we feel we have received our moneys worth.

We have had a very hard time dealing with Angela too. She is rude & have no etiquette how to talk to a customer. She doesn't know the meaning of a good customer service. I thought that buying new doors was going to be very straight forward & quick. I picked out the doors, paid 10% down and signed the contract in July2011. At the time of signing the contract, Jeff Brown promised that the doors will be installed within 3-6 weeks. But there was no news from them even after 2 months. So, I called them to find out but Angela doesn't let me talk to Jeff & makes all kinds of excuses.
Angela is very good at not answering the phone and not returning calls. Jeff would never contact after signing the contract. And on top of all, after doing a research in neighbourhood, I found it expensive than other companies. My neighbour got the same wrought iron doors in 48hrs & at a cheaper price. It was almost $500 difference and no hassle.
PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS !!!!!

We have had the frustated pleasure of dealing with Angela too. Every excuse in the book has been used, from one of their installers was hurt from a ladder fall, to trouble with the manufacturer. I thought that buying my parents new doors was going to be very straight forward. I picked out the doors, paid 10% down and signed the contract in May 2010.
The doors were finally installed mid October after at least 15-25 phone calls. I do not know when if ever the storm doors will be supplied as of December 2010. My best guess is that Jeff Brown can not pay his suppliers and therefore they are refusing his orders for product. Angela is very good at not answering the phone and not returning calls. Jeff refuses to man up and call me back after repeated attempts to have the job completed. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!

My wife purchased a set of screen doors for me for father's day. Signed an agreement on June 8th, 2010 with a Jeff Brown from Academic Glass and we still have not seen any doors or our deposit returned. The only number listed anywhere is the one shown with this listing and when you call you are sure to get to voicemail from Jeff Brown. Jeff Brown however never calls back but a representative called Angela returns calls after three or four messages and informs you she will relay the message to Jeff who will call back when he is in the office. We have yet to hear from Jeff or have a date for the installation of our screen doors. We know we will not do business with Academic Glass Ltd ever again. Now we just want our doors. Jeff Brown if your out there give us a call. you have our numbers.

So I should mention on September 15 I tried to call them pretending I need commercial windows to see how long it would take them to call me back but silly me I forget to block my number so Angela puts two and two together and decides to email Jeff Brown but instead of forwarding my email she hits reply and send the following to me:

Hi Jeff

Spoke with him this morning. I let him know that you would call him when you where in the office.
By all means you are not ignoring him. We have another Groza on our hands because he tried to pull the same trick by calling in a phone number and saying he needed commercial windows.
I do not have an answer from Kay. He is extremely busy and it is hard for him to give me a day.
It has been like that for the past month. I spoke with Gill this morining and he can do storm doors as well.

Thanks

Angela

Question what is a Groza?

I just finished having an agitated conversation with Angela at the phone number in this listing, The only phone number you will ever get according to the company's policies and procedures. Still no call from Jeff Brown, Upon asking when Mr. Brown will be in the office next, I am told that falls under their policies as well and she cannot reveal this information. So let me recap. Signed an agreement June 8th, Deposit 190$ (10%) Wife has been trying to get doors installed all summer. September 15th, 2010 I pick up the file and now I am accused by Angela of unethical behaviour because of my phone calls and emails. I am told Jeff is to call in a couple of hours. Angela Hangs up on me. Remember I just want a date and time and have my doors installed.

September 24, or September 27 we have been told will be the day. Academic Glass has indicated they will contact us prior to confirm the date and time. We are keeping our fingers crossed. I had to resort to an extensive follow-up regime of emails, telephone calls and a registered letter to receive a call from Jeff Brown and to receive these two dates.
