I want to tell everyone about my wonderful experience with Dr. Wright. I avoid dentists because of the cost, but, mainly because of the pain/discomfort/fear.... I have gone nearly a decade between dentists, and I was looking for a dentist in Guelph as I was having serious pain with a tooth. Why my friend recommended Dr.Rup, I have no idea. I gave him thousands of dollars to work on a number of cavities( really one, but of course he found 9 small ones...I've never had that), and the main one that was given me problems was never fixed properly, so I went back after a couple of years in worse shape, with clear concern expressed to him and asking if it is something he could fix for me or if I had to live with this...I got nothing but defensiveness and blame for me waiting this long to return, but I never went back to let him know that his 95% assurance he gave me, failed miserably again. I thought it was my teeth, the way they were spaced, and that I was always going to be in pain bc food kept getting stuck.
A few weeks ago, I had my initial assessment. It was the most through examination I have ever had, and didn't know existed. He did little things like PH balance test, and checked every tooth so well. He found lots of minor errors from previous work and gave me so much information I had no idea existed...like rubbing sensodyne toothpaste on teeth 5 minutes, then brush as usual...this will repair the beginning of decay as the ingredients in it have changed companies and now sensodyne has control of this. He gave my mouthwash to kill bacteria and specific instructions on how to use it. He gave me several samples of gum to decrease sugar content, and Incease saliva production. He simplified everything. When I came home I was so excited, I told me husband to go see him and he cancelled his appt he had scheduled the next week.
I just returned from my second visit with Dr. W and he actually fixed the problem I mentioned earlier that another dentist failed miserably twice. Tonight,....No chicken stuck,no pain and floss went though easily... and I doubt I'll have the same problem in this area again. He told me in our first assessment visit, that there was some overhang from the previous filling just so slight that would trap food.
I have never received such good care, explanation, and strategies (beyond flossing) to aid with small developing cavities. He has a gentle, yet confident and informative way. MOstly he is skilled. but to bout, he is not out to take financial advantage of anyone. He seems generally happy and aiming for people to really take care for their teeth. I'm sending my kids to him even though he has some gold crowns, that if he was a different person, the gold crowns would likely scare the hell out of my 4 and 3 year old. When I tried getting in to see Dr. Boersma, and was told he just retired, the office staff suggested Dr. Wright because of his lengthy experience. It's paid off for me, and even if he retires, my kids should have a positive experience starting out with dentists, hopefully they will not be scared to go regularly. I can't say enough about him.
