Linda Jamieson School Of Dance

LJSD is really good for kids who love to dance. They will receive exceptionally good training, they will experience different dance styles from tap to performing in Nutcracker ballet under tutelage of Ms. Andrews and Mrs. Jamieson herself.
Your children might love the dancing so much that they will choose a dancing career as did few graduates of LJSD.
But parents beware! If your children will have the best treatment, you and your questions and demands will be mostly ignored. Do don't tell you were not warned.
If you can accepts that, bring your childrens to LJSD and you will not regret. This is why I give maximal grade to the dancing school.

My daughter has been dancing with Linda and her team for 4 years now. After moving back to Canada we were on a search for a new school. We were invited by a neighbour to watch the Nutcracker which is put on by the school every December. My daughter and I were blown away at the beautiful, professional production we watched. Even more remarkable as the ages involved in putting on the stunning production start at 6. We signed up the next week. My daughters experience with the Nutcracker did not disappoint. It is a lot of hard work but the kids all love it. It is such a wonderful opportunity to be a part of it. The teachers are caring and talented. Linda herself knows all the dancers and knows what they are working on and how they are doing. She is very approachable. She has a personal connection with all her dancers. Linda brings in many outside talents to work with the dancers and provides many opportunities to learn and expand their knowledge. Leadership comes from the top and has cascaded down to all the dancers. This is evident when I see how amazing the older girls are with the younger ones. They always have the time and the patience to help a Jr. Girl. All the girls are a wonderful example of teamwork and they support each other. I have witness this countless times both in the studio and in the change rooms at competition. My youngest now dances at Linda Jamison and she loves it. Their preschool and young dancer program is wonderful. Very caring, energetic teachers that make learning to dance fun and professional at the same time. This dance family is a wonderful place for dancers to learn their craft and experience so many opportunities in a nurturing environment.

We have been a client of LJSD for 6 years now and have 2 daughter in the school who absolutely love it!
The teachers are extremely capable and you can see they have a genuine love of dance. We can't wait until our third daughter is old enough to start!

We could not be happier with our daughter's experience at LJSD. Since age 4 to 15 she has loved dancing with Mrs. Jamieson, Miss Andrews and numerous other teachers and choreographers. She has never once said I don't want to go to dance today. Discipline, confidence, comradery, showmanship, responsibility, organization, fitness and passion are just a few of the benefits for the dancers. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at LJSD!

I strongly recommend the Linda Jamieson School of Dance for
potential students and encourage parents to put their children in
her care and skillful supervision.
She develops "stars" of the dance world.
Linda Jamieson is an extremely warm and caring teacher! She loves kids! She has been highly successful both in Ottawa Secondary Schools teaching English and Dance as well as in her own Dance School. I organized master classes with Russian Ballet Teacher and Choreographer Mr. Igor Petrov of the famous Kirov Ballet Company and the Mariinsky Theatre, he said, "Linda's dance school is not just very professional, but it is the best school in Ottawa."
Linda Jamieson is an outstanding teacher. Her academic degrees in Theology, Psychology, and Education along with her Master's Degree studies in Psychology have resulted in a most successful life-long career working with children and teens. As a member of the Royal Academy of Dance, and as an extremely creative person, Ms. Jamieson's skills, knowledge, and love for her students have resulted in many of her graduates dancing in World Class Companies such as the Royal Ballet in London, England and the National Ballet of Canada to name a few.

This will be my daughter's 6th year dancing competitively with this studio. That said, the focus of this studio is not on continuous rehearsal for competition. The challenge of preparing for a few competitions sets a goal for the dancers, but the training of technique independent from competition is always the focus. While the Linda Jamieson School of Dance teaches a breadth of dance genres it is the teaching of classical ballet technique that is the concentration as the basis for all other genres. Studying dance here has contributed to my daughter's strong work ethic in all aspects of her life and she has developed very close friendships with a great group of fellow dancers.

My first time experiencing what exactly the Linda Jamieson Dance Company of Ottawa offers as a performance group was this past December when I was lucky enough to attend a performance of the Nutcracker. I was extremely taken aback by just how amazing the quality and grandeur of this production was! It is something for all of us to be particularly proud of, in the sense that this is a local dance company which features and helps grow the wonderful talent we have within our reach. Not only was it evident that the dancers were particularly well-trained in their craft-their professionalism, stage presence, and detailed choreography demonstrated the dedication this dance company has to completing the ‘big picture’ when it comes to putting on a show. The colourful array of props, characters, and beautifully assembled costumes were some of the many meticulous intricacies that kept the performance flowing and exciting. After having attended a few professional dance shows over the years, it was truly such a treat to watch a show that employed a variety of dancers, costumes, and choreographies, which only kept going above and beyond my expectations with each sequence. The performance was high energy, vibrant, and left the audience in anticipation with each passing minute, which is truly impressive when delivering a performance to such a diverse crowd. Thank you for the lovely experience, I look forward to seeing what else the Linda Jamieson Dance Company has to offer! :)

Thank you LJSD teachers! My daughter has developed into a strong person inside and out. Her experience at LJSD has been a BIG part of that. It is hard work being a competitive dancer and Samantha has learned to rise to the challenge. We are so proud of all her accomplishments in dance, school and life. She knows the value of commitment, managing your time, perseverance and that not everything will come easy the 1st time you try something new. All of that knowledge will only provide her with skills for life. Samantha has and will continue to make life long friendships with her dance companions. In my opinion, this lady should not be working with kids, because she doesn't seem to have any insight into them. Her actions cause a lot of drama but she either doesn't see it or she's pretending she doesn't see it.

As an example, the parents of the older girls always say that Mrs. Jamieson has her favourites and it's obviously true when she competes solos and group numbers against each other in a competition because her favourite dancers get better choreography, better musice,better costumes and lots more practice time, even though everyone is paying the same fees.If a parent complains she tells the kid she's going to kick them out if the parent complains again. Too much drama.

If I had to pick a good point, it would be that Miss Andrews is a really good ballet teacher, but she's close to 80 so I don't know how they'll replace her when she retirees.

Let's put it this way Linda Jamieson is one crazy lady. She is so full of herself that she treats her students not even as humans. One thing is be a tough teacher, but crushing a litle girl's dream of dancing by saying she is a "fat slob" is another. From my conversations with several other people had to seek a treatment from a therapist.

I sincerely hope parents research before enrolling their kids. Your children deserve better.
