Al Green Sculpture Studio School, Toronto Reviews (1)
This place is not legally a school according to the Ministry of Education, it's a "private business". And the service is a sick joke. I was told by George Farmer the mold maker that I should just F*** off! that he was sick and tired of answering my stupid F***ing questions. that I would be doing everybody in the studio a huge favor if I packed up all of my F***ing action figures and stupid sculptures and left, cause nobody wanted me there anyway. He told me that my sculptures were just a bunch of garbage. he went on about fantasy and sci-fi damaging the youth and that it's people like me that's wrong with the world. this guy was yelling like a drill sargent and his face was so red a huge vain was popping out of his forehead. when I spoke with the Managing Director Melanie she said that she heard what happened. He told me to f*** off I said, and her replay was yaa you should just f*** off! she also said that George told her everything and that he had every right to do so, and that I needed to hear what he had to say to me. The instruction they gave me was almost non existent. They never really took the time to give me step by step sculpting instruction. I had to do my our research just to find out what an alcohol lamp is and how to use this basic tool for wax sculpting, because Melanie would rather chat with her friends in the lounge. I'm giving it 1 1/2 stars just because the facility is nice and they provide you with decent tools.

If I hadn't experienced the place for myself, I would have dismissed this review as a disgruntled rant. My relationship did not culminate in the same kind of ugly confrontation, but given the culture and personalities I encountered, I am not at all surprised to hear this account. You are very generous to give one and a half stars, but you clearly have more character than that of all of the "professionals" working there combined. I hope the experience did not discourage you from pursuing your art, and that you will continue to believe in yourself.
