The next time security isn't doing their job please don't freak out on customers. The door was left opened and yes it was 10 minutes after closing but the swat team was not needed to kick me out. People at this location need better training in handling customers and the security needs to stop stuffing their faces with cookies if they're supposed to watch the front door.... OR MAYBE LOCK IT.

Why? Why? Why? What happened to the Nice sugar coated cookies? They were the favourite in our Family. Also, the shortbread cookies are so dry. Can't eat them without drinking something. We used to buy these every time we went shopping. Sadly, no more

The Peek Freans I loved from the time I was a child are gone! What rubbish is this you have trying to foist on us. I will not be buying them again unless I see a label saying “original recipe”. I agree with all the above comments, cardboard!

Like other people here, I was a long-time Peek Freans fan until Mondelez took over. The cookie doughs are unrecognizable as Peek Freans -- generally hard and dry, without appeal. I just tried again, thinking that it might take a while for Mondelez to get things as good as they were; they have not. It's sacrilege to label these drab things "Peek Freans."

I've been buying Peak Frean cookies for over 30 years. I don't buy them often because I usually make my own, but they were one of my favourite, go-to cookies. It used to be I'd never tried one I didn't like. The digestive biscuits were larger than they are now, thicker and delicious dunked in milk. I've just bought a box of digestives, as well as a box of assorted. When I opened the boxes I immediately could tell they looked different. I tried a digestive and one of the thicker, buttery (used to be) shortbread-type cookies, and neither tastes or has the same texture as they used to have. They seem to be firmer and the digestive biscuits are so thin and flavourless - completely different than I remember. The shortbread just taste like sugar and the texture isn't tender - just seem to be tougher and firmer - not a pleasant experience eating them. I will not buy Peak Freans any more. They are now poor quality, flavourless, hard, just awful. They taste like sugary cardboard. YUK!

First of all...the shortcake cookies have never been called shortbread. That is a completely different biscuit. However, not being really sure who or what "Mondelez" is, perhaps they should go back to seeing what made PF so good in the first place. Aka, butter and salt...= flavour. It's a cookie.....supposed to be a guilty pleasure....not a lifestyle choice.
It's no wonder they're on sale foe $1.99 a box every other week..... Tastes like rubbish...even the squirrels are unimpressed.

Peek Freans were one of the best cookies on the market, but now they are terrible.
I will spend my money elsewhere.

Is it true Peak Frean doesn't make them any more? If not where in Ottawa can we get them?

Yes, offer those high bran content things, but why did you have to drop NICE?

Assorted Creme Peek Frean cookies have been a repeat item on my grocery list for years. I usually buy 2 or 3 boxes when they're on sale.
It was bad enough when the cookies changed a few years ago (chocolate no longer has sprinkled sugar on them, smaller in size, less in box, etc). He box I bought today is just awful. I tried each of the 4 cookie types and they all taste like cardboard.
Too bad Mondelez,, you've lost yet another long time customer because of compromised quality and taste.

Truly do not understand why Peek Freans changed their famous cookie recipe to what they are now trying to sell their customers. The digestive cookies are tasteless and the texture is just awful. Truly tastes like biting into a bland super dry piece of wood. What is even worst is that Peek Freans no longer makes their famous sugar coated NICE tea biscuit. In its place they are now including the wanna be replica that is just awful. It is made from wheat with its husk in the batter. Tastes like cardboard. The PF shortcake shortbread cookies also taste different now - way too much salt. What is puzzling and actually offensive is that the PF multi-cookie blue box has remained the same without front of package stating the cookie variety has been changed. PF should be ashamed of this sales gimmick. PF may have secured a sale from me once but you won't get another chance in trying to sell me this crap again. Really unfortunate that PF did not value its long time customers who truly enjoyed the original flavor variety in the past. Whoever advised or recommended this change in products did not understand or appreciate what Peek Freans cookies stood for in Canada. This change broke the trust of your regular customers and unfortunately will impact your future sustainability. Truly unfortunate but unavoidable when owners listen to some advisers that don't understand the product or the customer base.

It appears that they have taken butter out of their recipes. I noticed this in tasting a recent box of Digestive cookies, and then comparing the ingredients listings of an old box and a new box. Sadly, I grew up eating Digestives, but I won't be purchashing them again.

What happened to Peek Frean?? I am a Canadian living in the U.S., and when I was in Canada in Oct., 2014, I stocked up on my usual 5-6 boxes of favorites and enjoyed them state-side for a few months. Now, I have returned from my summer holiday in Canada, with 4 boxes of cookies (-assorted tea, asst cream), and have just tasted them...awful!! I also now see that the asst tea has chancpged content, while keeping the outside box look similar... It no longer contains my beloved Nice cookies and those round biscuits with currants in them. And, the shortbreads taste disgusting!!! Why did I waste precious suitcase space for this garbage?? Never again!!
I also now see that these cookies are no longer made by Kraft, but by some company called Mondelez.

I have loved Peak Freans my whole life, but what have you done?????? They taste horrible now, like cardboard, sawdust. Worst cookie I have ever eaten. What happened to your sugar cookie, now it's dark, bland and disgusting. The shortbread just plain gross. The chocolate cream - well, I'm not sure what that tasted like, but it wasn't cookie. I won't waste my money on these ever again......just awful. Go back to your old recipes.....please.....

I am so disappointed. The Digestive cookies which I loved now tastes like cardboard. I brought several boxes back to the grocery store and complained . I guess it isn't my imagination. Also just bought the Fruit Cream cookies and they too taste different. The cookie part is blah tasting and there is less icing on the cookie. How much money are they saving? I won't buy them anymore. Did someone buy up the company and tamper with the recipes?

What have you done to the Shortbread Cookies? Purchased a box this week and tried one last night. It now has no butter flavour to speak of ( therefore, no flavour at all) and the density of the cookie has greatly changed ( much less dense than previously ). Why fool around with something that was totally fine to start with? Unfortunately, I will no longer be buying these. I now wonder what may have changed in my other favs.....digestive.
PS..these are the Original Shortcake Buscuits....not the Lifestyle brand

It is a shame that you changed them to thin dry cookies. The older version was much tastier. Not only were they the only cookie I bought, but I had to bring 6 boxes or more to my friends in the US every time I went visiting because they loved them so much and could not get in US stores. Their consensus also is that they are not as good. They are dry, less buttery and "short" tasting. They used to taste like homemade before. Now just like cardboard manufactured cookies. Shame you fooled around with a previously excellent product.

A box of Peek Freans Assorted Tea Biscuits - my family's favourite for many years - no longer includes 6 varieties but has been downgraded to 4. Only the original Digestive and Shortbread have made it through the mincer.

The Rich Tea, Petite Beurre, Nice and Raisin Sugar biscuits are all gone.

This product is no longer worth buying and I've taken it off my shopping list.
