I went into the Leaside store last week after being put off by staff rudeness previously. To say the young lady was not personable would be an understatement. She rambled off at rocket speed and said sorry as she was she walk back onto the floor before I could say a word! Enough. I won't buy or consign with these stores again. A consignment store with attitude. Are they for real!

i agree with one reviewer's comments. The Staff are too uppity - and I have stopped selling and buying at this store as a result.

I have been shopping at Ex-Toggery for many years, both as a consignment customer and as a purchaser. Unfortunately the staff at the Avenue Road store is so standoffish that I have decided not to frequent it any more. Also the items are becoming too "designer" and no longer great High Street brands that are everyday wearable. I do not need clothes for "events", weddings or proms. Bring back wearable clothes please.
Unfortunately it looks like the Brentcliffe Store is heading the same way. They too are becoming too picky in the take in department with the result that there are no great clothes to be found on the racks for everyday wear.
Please go back to taking in great items and stop just looking at the labels. We will buy great looking clothes and are not hung up on "labels". You are misreading your customers.
I used to spend a lot at Ex-Toggery, not just from the proceeds of my sale items. Now they don't want my items any longer and there are no everyday wearable clothes to buy in the stores.

Like the other reviewers here, I am very disappointed with every aspect of dealing with this store. I recently dropped a lot of weight, had beautiful clothes that no longer fit, and brought them to the store thinking this would be an ideal fit.

This was my first and last series of contacts with this store.
Beware to anyone who deals with them for all the reasons detailed by the previous 2 reviewers.

Spread the word.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I recently had a similar experience shopping at the Avenue Rd location. One staff member told me that I had exceeded the limit and couldn't try anymore clothes. According to management, this rule is written somewhere!!! Also, if I don't like it, I can leave!!!! I am a shopaholic and I recently spent thousands of dollars at this store. I have never been treated so poorly by one staff member and the manager at the Avenue Rd location. This is the worst customer service I ever experienced in my lifetime! Most stores love me because I buy and I am friendly and courteous. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Do your research on the internet...you will find more unsatisfied customers regarding the way they were treated, and as a result these customers will not be returning to this store. I intend to do the same. I will not support a business that treats me with disrespect!

I have been a customer for a while until I was shopping with my sister - she wanted to try many styles of clothing and tended to take her time selecting when the saleslady told her (apparently the 'rule' was posted at the cash) that there is a 12 item try on limit - my sister asked about the policy and the rationale behind it - the saleslady stated that after trying on 12 items it is likely that there is nothing that the store has that would be of interest to the customer - another saleslady approached my sister and asked her if the items she was holding were items that she intended to purchase - my sister said yes -the second saleslady told her to hang the clothes on a rack until she was ready to pay
- after this treatment, extoggery has lost a long time good customer, a potential customer and positive word of mouth - too bad - there are great finds there but shoddy treatment - have they ever hear of customer service?

I really like the merchandize in the store, however they are trying to give the Holtrenfrew vibe; which needless to say does not fit. I must say that not all their merchandize are within the 2 year bracket and of the best quality. Some of their items are over priced - Sevens Jeans for $99 (used). i think these stores need some competition, a reminder of who pays the bills and they do infact sell used clothing. Though the brands are expensive names they are too expensive - I am looking for an alternative.

I remember going to Ex-Toggery many times as a kid and the clothing, shoes and knick-knacks were affordable. Now, it's become an upscale used clothing shop with an atmosphere that is unwelcoming to say the least. The few times I've been to Ex-Toggery in the past year, I've been met with cold and unfriendly staff. I actually think they are afraid to say 'Hello, good morning!'. Just recently, I was in their shop on Avenue Road and there was a young man hired to stand by the door. I couldn't figure out if he was put there to watch for people stealing or just to greet people coming in. He didn't seem to fit either category. No hello or good afternoon. A few minutes later my daughter and I went downstairs to bring in some items. This was our first time 'trip' to Ex-Toggery bringing in clothing. He was polite and definitely knew all about the consignment clothing end of his job. We were fortunate; almost of all of the pieces were highly 'sellable'.
Back upstairs, we took a final browse around to look at the clothing, shoes and purses. I must say that the merchandise is quite over-priced. Many of the jackets and tops weren't even nice. The jeans, even the top end jeans were nothing to get excited about - not at $99.00 a pair.
Ex-Toggery has become a shopping place for the rich and not so rich but definitely not for the frugal shopper who is looking for a good deal.
