I agree with other people about Groupons deal, paying extra cost when you go to the salon, money is not important if you are happy with the outcome. I would like to thank Ernie for excellent jod done on my hair and to other nice and accomodating staff. Definitely going back again.

Stay away from them they scam ppl through Groupon.

They are scam. Big time. First visit they were all friendly and treated me well althu I had a coupon for 29$for two hair cut and color, they told me it costs another 35 ehich i agreed and ended up paying 75$. The second visit they told me again it costs 50$whivh they made me pay and didn't get a haircut just a color which was not my color and he turned my hair black.
They did the same thing to my friend who paid 75$for one roots color and they refused to do the second visit unless she pay another 35$ even thu she had the groupon coupon for two vist.

I've had my hair done several times at Ruffles and have been happy with their work. I agree with people who have complained about their Groupons being not the only cost. My first appointment was with a Groupon and still cost a lot more. I asked for highlights and knew I'd have to pay more but it was more than I expected. I paid the same with the groupon that I've paid since. But if money is not the most important thing and you want to leave loving your hair you will be very happy there. I don't have money to throw around but I'd rather pay a lot for great hair than not-so-great.

In November of 2015 I bought a group in for $29. There was an added charge because I have longer hair I was ok with that because at the end of the day a color blow dry and cut would have cost me at least $90-100 and I only paid $70. I followed up a few months later and got my hair cut, roots done and my hair coloured (where the ends were bleached) I absolutely loved my hair and I only payed $150 Antonio was the one who did my hair I will never leave him ever as for the physical appearance of the salon it's not the most updated place but to me that does not matter love Rufgles it's my hair heaven

You know when your gut tells you that your in for a bad experience but you decide to ignore it - just do yourself a favour and listen to it. Everything was pointing to the fact that was hair salon was going to be a horrendous experience - everything from the negative reviews, to the hack job that they did to my sisters hair, to the angry receptionist that reminded me of Howard's mom from Big Bang Theory. But I ignored it because it was easy until I arrived at the place and they told me I needed to pay extra... Extra for length, extra tax (who pays $20 tax on a 30 groupon???). And still I was about to do it until my husband had to actually jog me from the obvious brain freeze and tell me he didn't have a good feeling about this before I realized enough was enough and walked away after without getting my hair done (after a 40 min drive to get to it). Follow your instincts - don't be a lamb to the slaughter, listen to your gut and walk away from these hair butchers. I'll be following up with the deal site that advertised this deal and I think all 49 of you who did not recommend this salon should do the same so sites like Groupon are aware of the crooks that work at Ruffles and hopefully don't lure others into it agonizingly crude and distasteful place.

I went there for my couins wedding they made me look as if I were the bride!! Very nice people who work here, but its a little bit far of a location for me other than that there are amazing people who do there job perfectly!! keep up the good work!!

I bought the Groupon package for $30 but after reading all the terrible reviews I think I won't even waste my time. Charging an additional $60 to $80 for long hair doesn't seem like much of a deal at all. Groupon deals are supposed to offer a minimum of 50% off services. The whole thing seems sneaky....Additional fees, cash only, no receipts and incorrect taxing as one customer complained. Thanks but NO THANKS !!

I bought a Groupon deal that included 2 haircuts and styles, 2 colourings, and 2 hot oil treatments for $29. Great price right? Wrong. NOTHING was included for $29. My hair is longer than my shoulders, so I always expect an extra fee for longer hair. However, they wanted to charge me $60 extra for about 4 inches of hair beyond my shoulder. I negotiated the long-hair fee down to $20. They washed my hair, cut it, and then began putting mousse into it. I asked when the hot oil treatment was going to be done, to which they brushed off the question, saying "they did it quickly while your hair was being washed." I know what a hot oil treatment is, and it definitely wasn't done.

I have ombre hair colouring (darker roots, lighter ends.) We decided not to dye the ends lighter as it would damage my already bleached hair. This was fine, however my deal did include colour. I asked if the colour could be used to only dye my dark roots, and the stylist (Ernie) told me no because the colour portion of my voucher only applies to full colouring. This made no sense at all, as doing my roots uses much less hair dye than a full head would. On top of that, the cost to dye my full head would be an additional $120. It seemed as though they were just adding extra fees on top of extra fees.

The clientele was a much older crowd. The only two young people in the salon (myself and another girl) were using Groupon deals. Everyone else was over 50 years old. In the end, I paid $49 for a choppy, mediocre hair cut, with no colour or hot oil treatment. Even though my voucher included two visits, I would never go back.

I read another review that stated that they charged a customer taxes on the full amount of the service (not the Groupon deal price.) This is NOT the proper way to charge taxes. They didn't do this to me luckily, but it is yet another fee to watch out for.

I bought a groupon and paid a certain amount for specified service. This is called a contract legally. When you get to the salon you will be told of other charges eventhough my hair is above the shoulder. I was expected to pay another $80. I walked out. This is a bait and switch scam.

Bought the voucher on Living Social for wash cut style treatment and highlights for 2. Once you get there you r told that there is a $25 extra for long hair (define long? As of shoulder length). Extra costa with hair dye I agree but I chose not to color. Still +$50.
Waited for 25 min until somebody even acknowledged us there. Then wash. Treatment applied and we were put on the dryer. Long story short it was at least 1.5 hour before the first of us sat on the chair. No big deal from there. Cut blow dry and style, ok. So service is the bad thing thing because while we (voucher clients) waited for such a long time, other "regulars" came in and left quickly. Lesson learned, Ruffles is a NO the return.

No, I am not a friend or family member. I am a returning client (from many years ago) that used a Groupon last year to try it out again. Although there was a mixup with my original appointment date and time, we rescheduled and they were very accommodating. Tony is by far one of the best hairstylists I have come across and there have been many. He understands what looks best and goes for it! I have also never had a better hair wash and I have thick hair with a hard scalp!!
Pricing is fair and Ida and her entire staff need to be praised-- not ridiculed.

Enough said!

I received a Groupon for Ruffles as a gift . It was worth $30 and was supposed to cover a cut, wash, colour and hot oil treatment. It did say that there would be an extra fee for long hair, so I was expecting to pay a little extra. I booked an appointment in advance and told them about the groupon over the phone. When I arrived at the salon I was rather disappointed it looked pretty dumpy and not very clean. It was also in a sketchy strip mall. I was supposed to get my hair done by a guy, I believe his name was Antonio (not 100% sure). He was pretty nice at first. He let me know it would cost extra, around 80 dollars is what he said. I was a bit turned off and I guess he could tell so he lowered the price by 10 dollars. I agreed mainly because I had traveled a good 45 minutes away for this appointment. He started to apply my highlights, and while doing so was being asked by some old lady who I assume was a regular customer to do her hair on the spot. He mumbled after she left that he didn't want to do it, but he ended up doing it while my highlights were in--- for over an hour. I was getting so worried that my hair was going to be ruined. I was sitting in the chair with bleach in while he served over 2 customers! Nobody acknowledged me, or offered me a coffee-- nothing. I was getting pretty mad. Eventually a lady who didn't even introduce herself to me took me over to wash my hair and I assume put the hot oil in my hair although I can't even be sure because nobody told me what they were doing to my hair. I proceeded to sit with my head uncomfortably in the sink for another hour. By now I was so angry and was ready to leave. Then Antonio comes over and asks if it's okay for another stylist to do my hair. I agreed, I just wanted out. The guy who cut my hair was Ernie and he was the only redeeming factor of this place. He was fast, friendly and did a nice job. I ended up liking my hair but to be honest the customer service is just terrible. When it came time to pay they didn't take debit or credit and my boyfriend had to take money out to pay in cash. I also received no reciept. Not worth it!

Friendly staff though owner obnoxious. Since it was a groupon deal I felt I was put on the back burner by the owner even though I had called way in advance to book an appointment and followed it up with a reminder a couple of days before the appointment Customers who came in after me were attended to as soon as they walked in. Had to really wait for almost more than 2 hours. Pathetic and childish display by the owner, like very pointedly ignoring me (no idea why - maybe I was not a full paying customer). I could see that even some of her staff were embarrassed by her behaviour since the owner was reminded more than once that I was waiting with color in my hair for more than recommended time. I wonder how many first time customers who visited the salon via Groupon will go back. Not me for sure and will never recommend this salon to anyone. Not worth ANY rating

I used my groupon for $30 which was supposed to include a root touch-up (or some surface highlights), haircut, hot oil treatment, and style and a caveat that long hair will cost extra and of course taxes and gratuity are not included in the $ 30 I have paid for the groupon deal. Got an excellent haircut and style from Ernie who was a really fun guy to talk with and a very skilled hair stylist. Pina washed and conditioned my hair; I didn't get the hot oil treatment stated on the Groupon deal. Pina was also a wonderful woman - very warm and funny. Aida, the owner was the one who applied the hair colour; she was very personable and right away let me know that there will be an extra cost because I have long hair ( I don't think it was long-a little bit above my shoulders) and that since I did my colour, she would have to do some mixing of hair colour to fix it (???). In any case, the place had a great energy - all the three employees and the owner Aida seem to really have a great rapport with each other and with their clients. At the end, I was asked to pay an extra $ 40 and since they don't take credit cards I had to go to a bank machine to withdraw cash. I was surprised that the extra cost was a lot more than the original cost I paid and that they only deal in cash and no receipt was given to me. Although the haircut was great, I did have to wait an average of 10 - 15 minutes for each step of my hair services. Ruffles has been in business for a long time, and so I guess they have their regulars. I think it would be nice if they are more transparent about all the extra charges. This way there are no suprises. I feel bad that I did not tip Pina and Ernie but truly I did not expect to spend an extra $ 40 considering my understanding is that the services are being offered at 50% off. I paid the extra $40, thank them, and left.

Terrible customer service! Went in with a deal and they demanded additional $65 that was not justified and or stipulated in the deal's fine print. Part of the additional charges were and as they said because we have dark hair they said the package covered blonde hair (obviously with none of this mentioned anywhere). In the end they were not even willing to talk to us and asked us to leave and to get a refund saying we were disrupting their business (we were not even irate). Don't waste your time, beware!!

I bought a voucher from livingsocial.com and this was my first time coming to Ruffles as I live on the west end of Toronto. I didn't know what to expect and was quite nervous. I called to set up an appointment and spoke with the owner Ida (Im sorry if misspelled) she was very accommodating. The day of my appointment I thought I was going to be about an hour behind schedule and I called in, and again very accommodating and friendly conversation over the phone. Once I got there I was greeted by Ida ( the owner) .. she was a very friendly and kind woman. She was able to take me right away.. I had showed her pictures of what I wanted and she thoroughly and professionally discussed what would work with my hair type and what would be the best options to achieve the closest result to the look I was going for. She instructed me on color and care issues with my hair with, again, the utmost professionalism and she truly cared about the outcome of my hair. I felt very well taken care of.Her years of experience and knowledge as well as her passion for what she does clearly showed through in her dealings with me .. She is my new regular hairdresser and I HIGHLY recommend her and her salon to anyone with hair and/or nail needs..I was so happy to have purchased the voucher from her as it saved a lot of money ( I exceptedly had to pay in addition to the voucher as voucher prices are usually based on simple, short services for fine hair and my hair is extra long and thicker )..Ida also upon request went through what I would have paid altogether to get the services without the voucher and it truly was a steal what I paid for such high quality service..Ida is truly an amazing lady and I left there feeling absolutely wonderful about myself. My story is very simple; for me is very difficult to find the right person to take care of my hair so after trying so many places I landed with a lady that was good but she was always in a hurry and trying to take care of too many customers at the same time.
I was going on an overseas trip in July 11th and I obviously I needed to do my hair. So I booked an appointment for me and my daughter on Monday July 8th at 6 PM. So to our luck after we arrived and before we sat down the power went out……yeah!!!! And I panicked. She was going on vacation next day and my hair was terrible.
So on Wednesday July 10th I called a girlfriend (her hair is always really nice) and she gave me the contact info for Aida at Ruffles. So I called and she was so pleasant and she said just come over. So we went. That was the best decision I have made regarding hairdressers. Aida is great; she managed to give my hair a great color; the haircut was really good and make me look 10 years younger. And my daughter feel in love with Tony; he did some highlights and gave her an astonishing haircut.
Since then, they never failed to make me look good; I am very lousy at blow-dry my hair so the haircuts are always fun and easy to manage after.
I have taking my neighbours and friends and so far the outcome is always the same: really good.
So I will recommend Ruffles to anyone who needs a makeover with their hair. The staff are friendly and happy and they always make you feel welcome. To those that have said that the staff was rude, please remember that they deal with people every day all the time and is not easy and that we all have good and bad days……we all do!!!!

Overall experience, fun, caring and most importantly did their job. Laughter is a part of their experienced hairstylists. Ernie and Ida and the employee who make sure that the place is clean are just good people and very experienced. And BTW, this is not a family member writing a review. If anyone is grumpy and in a bad mood and want their hair done, then Ruffles is the place to be in. They listen to you and if you are not happy, then, they will make sure you are.

Good work everyone and do we recommend? For sure.

Five star ratings???????? They must have family and friends do them a favor. I purchased a $39 Buytopia coupon. Wash, cut, deep conditioning, colour, mani and pedi. Didn't get the deep conditioning or mani & pedi but was charged $48 extra for a hair colour. Owner was rude and loud. I should have read reviews before purchasing a coupon. It looks like this company has been coupon provider hopping for a while. Do yourself a favor, don't go to this place. Filter out the "great" reviews and you will definitely see a true picture. I never write reviews...but this experience made me want to warn decent people.

I don't know What these other People are talking about but i had the best experience at ruffles. The salon was clean, the staff were friendly, the owner Ida was so polite. I was very happy with my hair when we were done in an hour. I am definitely going back again. Thank you Ida and the Ruffles team.

Ruffles was so kind to our program which services people who struggle with mental health, and live on a fixed income. Idda opened her shop on the Monday morning April 23rd and cut our ladies hair for free. The ladies were so happy and looked amazing... Thank you for all your support!

When I arrived at Ruffles on Sunday Feb 24, 2013 11am the hydro was out because the city was doing work at the street. The owner was there alone and the place was empty. She's was a very nice lady that said she stayed open for my appointment. They had a generator running so she said we could go ahead with my appointment despite the hydro issue. I am disabled in a wheelchair so I asked her to do my son first so he could go out to breakfast with my husband while they waited for me. She even recommended a place down the street for them. My son was so happy with his hair cut when it was done. She did a great job. For me she did the works, cut, colour, streaks and style. She was very patient with me, never making me feel hurried with my disability. I really liked the way she did my hair and more importantly my husband really thought it was great since he decided on the colour. Just as she was finishing me, more people had finally started to arrive and hydro was coming back on. What an unexpected pleasure to have the salon all to myself with a wonderful stylist. The only thing that was inconvenient was I had to pay cash as all the machines were down due to the power failure but this was not their fault. I would recommend this place to any age or sex. Thanks Ruffles for a splendid Sunday morning. P.S. Price was good too!

We accept all individuals regardless of how a person looks. We do however are not appreciative of the disrespectful comments. We have sustained many clientele for many years now and they have nothing but respect and fondness for our staff, environment and the work that we do. Whomever was displeased by anything in our salon we apologize and it was not our intention to cause this. New clients are welcomed at all times. Once again, any previous negative experiences have clearly been misunderstandings.
