Art began when man started abstracting what he experienced in the world into symbols; it developed as a way to communicate with people who were working and living beside each other. Art tells the stories of people and their place in the world. But today, man has been alienated from the work that he performs. He shall perform only brute work, he shall not decide for himself, he shall only do as told by his superior. In the same way, the artist, alienated from his labour, spends his life glorifying the ideology of the dominant class. The work that he does becomes meaningless to him; it is soulless.
