Best burger in the city.

As a restaurant that has been here for decades, its hard to believe they got a Canadian Classic so wrong! I ordered fries (well done) with gravy no cheese. it came out pretty fast, which was already a red flag! It should have taken longer if they were making them fresh....what I got was fries that were dry and overdone because they just redunked already made fries that were probably sitting in the bin...when I ask for fries well done, do I REALLY have to say: fresh fries please? I would expect fresh fries when paying almost 10$ for something that used to be 3.50$ back in the day?!?! And, they were better back then, they took pride in what they were serving...I feel like this establishment has 'given up" on delivering a optimum dining experience and is just throwing food in a bag...hands down the worst fries and gravy I've had since returning to Toronto in May. Fortunately, I've had opportunities to travel extensively to the US and abroad as a food reviewer and l've had much better "fries n'gravy" internationally in restaurants offering "Canadian Classics". This place is regrettably underwhelming and was not a good foodie experience.

Burger was ok. Probably not the best you'll have but it's got a pretty nostalgic taste to it and took me back. Onion rings were excellent. It's a cool spot and it will remind you of your childhood. Everything is old schoold and original from the food taste to the decor.

I had one of the worst treatment from an employee at the burger shack. As the only black couple in the restaurant that evening seeing ever got proper treatment. This employee took the salad bowl and stuck it at the side bringing all the liquids to the top of the plastic bag and put no fork or napkin in my take away bag.
I’ve been coming there for years and NEVER had that issue.

The Burger Shack is frequently mentioned in neighborhood social media, and for years, I never had the opportunity to try it until today. What caught my attention at first was the dedicated work of the staff. I could be mistaken, but it seems like the place is owned by a family. This reminded me of my home country, where I regularly visited similar family-run businesses that became traditional spots over the years due to their consistent quality and hard work. They manage to maintain their standards without unnecessary investments that wouldn't enhance the business.

What I found at The Burger Shack was an extremely flavorful burger, without the need for any modern, hyped-up gimmicks. It was simply an honest burger—one of the best I've tasted in the city. I highly recommend it!

I passed by this old school burger joint and I gotta say I was very impressed. Tried the home burger with cheese and was pleasantly surprised to get options between cheddar, Swiss and another cheese. I went with the Swiss.

Burgers are made to order. Fresh kaiser buns and all the fixings done in front of you. I would try the homemade 6oz burger next time. The home burger is cheaper but also a regular frozen burger.

However the char taste is noticeable right away! The toppings were fresh and delicious. The burger was well balanced and not too greasy, which I enjoyed! Overall a great burger and one that won't weigh you down.

I'll definitely be returning to try the other offerings at the shack. The milk shakes looked delicious too.

Love an authentic grilled burger joint. The atmosphere was awesome a bunch of young families enjoying a casual meal out. Try the onion rings! We’ll be trying the Greek food next time.

Classic homemade-style burger with generous portions. You can customize your toppings to your liking. However, I found the gravy on the poutine to be too salty and thick for my taste. The best item on the menu, though, is their unique onion rings, don't skip them!

Went to Burger Shack after a post of thread had multiple replies that said they had the best burgers however frankly it was very average. Nothing that blew our minds…. Service was fast. Staff were nice but food was alright.

Burger shack is a very great place if you are looking for AMAZING burgers!! Their foods are never disappointing! The staffs are very friendly in helping you and your needs. The place is having retro vibe which I love from a burger place!!

I have been coming here since I was in high school in the early 80s and I am so happy to say this place still has the best burgers in town. And today I stopped by for breakfast for the first time. Loved it. Thank you. 🏆

While many customers seem to favor the chicken dinner, I opted for their signature burger. I had heard that their onion rings were thickly battered, almost like doughnuts, so I wasn’t surprised by their unique texture when I tried them.

The burgers have a classic, homemade feel, with customizable toppings and a hand-formed patty. Overall, the food was satisfying, though I found the prices a bit on the high side.

The standout for me was definitely the onion rings—they’re quite different from what you’d expect and worth a try. The restaurant has a retro, nostalgic vibe and mainly offers fast food-style meals.

Next time, I’d like to explore more of the menu, perhaps giving the popular chicken dinner a shot.

Small, fast, and delicious. You can customize the burger toppings but even the basic burger is great. Fries have an actual good flavor and aren’t just salt and oil.

What an amazing surprise. I always pass the Burger Shack never stop. Last week I went in and what a delicious burger. Great fries and old school ambient. Is one of the best burgers in T.O. check it, now im hooked in. Tha ks guys to keep it real.

This is in the top 5 of all burgers in Toronto. The fries slap too. The owner eats the greek salad and souvlaki. So do others. How can I go and not get the burger. No I can''t.
