JUST GREEK

I have eaten at Just Greek more than 12 times since they began business and I must say things just keep getting worse. Today the service was just appalling and the waiter just got worse the longer we were there. He ignored us when we arrived and took take out orders on the phone, then he waited 10 more minutes before he brought menus. He then left us for another 10 minutes and was so disinterested in serving us I asked my party if we should leave. He then left our food on the counter and went back to take out to serve more people while our food got cold. He didn't approach the table once to refill water or inquire about the food. I have never and will never again experience this type of horrible service at this establishment. Not worth the money...overpriced, poor service, disorganized and noisy.

Just Greek prides itself on being a “warm atmosphere” “which caters to both families and corporate”. On May 29, 2008, the owner/manager, Bobby Iliadis proved it was anything but.

My mother, 6 month old daughter and I decided to go for lunch at Just Greek on Bloor as we have never been before and it was across the street from where my mother works. As my mother was on lunch she only had an hour to spend with us on lunch. We were approaching the ½ hour waiting time when we asked our waiter if he could check on our food as we were running out of time. He came back and told us it was not much longer. A few minutes went by and we noticed other people in the back take-out counter who just approached were getting their meals much quicker. My mother decided to go to the take-out counter with my daughter in hand to ask the manager how long it would be as we now only had 20 minutes until she had to get back to work. After a moment, my mother came back to the table looking a bit surprised and shocked. I asked what happened and she said she just had the most insulting encounter with the manager. When she went up to the counter to ask how much longer the food would take, he shouted to her “this isn’t McDonald’s, it doesn’t take 10 minutes!” We were so appalled sitting there debating if we should leave or not when the manager walked by and my mother asked if she could talk to him for a moment. He came over and my mom told him that the comment he made in the back was quite rude and she was just asking how much longer it would take because she had to get back to work. He had the nerve to laugh and say straight in our eyes, “I don’t care, I don’t need people like you here”, and he walked away. My mother and I just looked at each other and couldn’t even believe what we just heard. At this point we had lost our appetites and asked our waiter for the bill and our food to go. We also asked our waiter if the owner was that rude all the time. He just looked at us scared and didn’t reply. As we were leaving the manager was laughing and making comments about us to a nearby customer. I have never ever experienced such discriminating behaviour from anyone, let alone the owner of a restaurant who survives on the business of his customers.

I urge the residents and community of Etobicoke and surrounding areas to boycott this restaurant as a sign that the public will not stand for such discriminating behaviour from such a heartless individual.

I wasn't very happy with the food or service. Our waiter wasn't overy friendly and did not give us a great experience. My boyfriend and I both had the Souvlaki and even though it tasted good, it was the same as I would expect in any fast food chain of restaurants. The cost for food was a little pricey for what we got, though I suppose it isn't bad for the area and for a sit down restaurant.
Don't get my wrong though, the food tasted good, I just expected a little more personal and friendly service.

Oh, and they don't accept debit. That was embarassing!
