I brought in 1 oz Sunshine mint silver rounds and was told they're undesirable and are worth only $15 CAD while they're selling on apmex.com for $30 CAD each and spot price is at $27 CAD.

http://www.apmex.com/Product/55208/1_oz_Silver_Rounds_999_Fine___Sunshine_Minting__.aspx

When I mentioned it is worth nearly double that, I was told the $27-30 value is based on 100 oz bars like I am that stupid.

A reputable dealer gave me spot price for each of them, which was $27+ each, for what AAA felt was only worth paying me $15.

You just lost a customer, and hopefully more.

First I checked Bank of NS, Royal Cnd Mint Main dealer not coin shops. On $1100 oz Cnd Maple at spot asking $1500 that's like over 45% and 1 oz Silver Maples were $17 spot asking $28 lol that was back in March of this year.
AAA sold me a few gold coins at $1330 each and and mark up of $10 over spot on 1 oz maple leafs, $700 over spot on 100 oz Matley bar. So ridiculous prices as others mentioned.

After wasting a few thousand at AAA, I found the best place in Victoria was at VAN ISLAND COINS, a few doors down from AAA charging a nonimal fee of $2 over spot for silver and less than 5% over spot on gold coins - which is comparative to other dealers in Vancouver and on the internet.
Again be sure, as others have mentioned check all sources before purchasing gold and silver in Victoria before buying from AAA coin shop. Wish I had known earlier Van Island Coins was their.

The owner of AAA Coin and Stamp stated that the Canadian Mint set his prices for Mint merchandise, but this is not true. The only price they set is for new uncirculated sealed collectable coins. He used this claim to overcharge for old circulated gold Maple Leaf coins. The result was I paid $130 more than I would have to other coin dealers.

Be sure to do your research before buying Canadian Mint items from AAA. We went to AAA because they were a listed dealer on the Canadian Mint website. The Mint later advised us it is buyer beware. AAA advised us that all dealers add at least $150 to the Spot Price of 1oz of gold, in addition to the standard 5-10%.
He said this was to cover the cost of exploration, handling, etc, and the Spot Price was only for bulk gold. After our purchase, we were told by other Mint dealers they had never heard of this, and they only charged the 5-10%. We now suspect other stories told to us by AAA were probably only hot air used to inflate their prices.
