I deal with both, Julia and Wayne, and have always had a pleasant experience! They both have an abundance of knowledge and have always treated me and my friends with respect! I would recommend anyone who is interested in buying silver and gold coins and bullion to go and see for yourself!!

I've been buying silver from this and another store for a few years now. Sometimes a little and sometimes a fair amount.I've found their prices to be fair. I have 2 young children who I bring in on occasion who have a lot of fun messing about in the big collection of world coins they have. A lot of times Julia gives them a few extra for free. They joke around a lot and seem to have fun. Some stores I've been in make you feel uncomfortable, not this one. Fun place to go.

If the owner is not around you will probably enjoy your visit! Beware of his bark but I'm sure he won't bite! Some prices are out to lunch and I won't shop here anymore cause of the rude owner and prices!

a couple years ago my son-in-law introduced our grandsons to the hobby of stamp collecting. I started hearing about "Miss Julia" and their experiences with her.
The kids love going to spend a couple hours every so often searching for stamps.

As a result on our last trip to Edmonton I was was quite interested in going to see the shop and purchase some tamps of my own. I have a modest collection and am trying to fill in some empty spots.

What a great experience. "Miss Julia" was more than helpful to both myself and the boys. She answers all their questions and patiently explains how things work in the way of pricing etc. I was able to find several stamps that I am missing in my collection and am hoping to go back one more time before i have to head home.

Thank you "Miss Julia" for the time you take with my grandsons and for the great customer service i both got and witnessed with other customers that came and went while we were there

I came into this store for the first time to start a collection of coins and paper mony for my family, and Julia was very helpful and courteous in every way, Thanks Julia!
The owner of this store helped me with the paper notes with excellent service in getting my christmas projects on the go.
I was very impressed in how hard & fast he worked to complete my big project, It wasn't easy. But he got the job done in more then ample time. And his prices are very fare, I also would like to take the opportunity to thank them both very much for treating me like a person not a number. I highly recommend doing business with them, and will refer others. I will continue to there in the future, (very satisfied customer.) A.J.

I took a set of silver bars in to sell to them. I was offered an extremely low offer. Woman was nice but the man was extremely rude and made me feel very uncomfortable when I politely told them I had a better offer. I turned to walk out the door and he immediately raised his offer (almost doubling it) to the same as the other offer I mentioned.

I ended up selling the set to them, but if I had the chance to do it again I'd have kept walking out the door. I felt very intimidated by him.

The item brought into our store by this nice couple was a collection of sterling silver bars that had to be weighed individually for silver melt value. At the time I was rather busy and made a mistake on the amount we could pay per gram. The rest of the story is not quite as the person describes. The calculation error was quickly pointed out to me by the 'rude intimidating' gentleman the woman is referring to. This is an uncalled for comment however, it is unfortunately how the person felt. The amount to be paid was re-calculated and what the couple wanted was paid as opposed to the writing where it sounds as though they were forced to sell to us (at their price)which is of course ridiculous. To get what you want for an item and still be unhappy is something we cannot solve.
It is however unfortunate that they left our store-after receiving the amount they wanted, unhappy.
A very nice couple who we simply made a mistake with which we promptly rectified and yet they still left dissatisified. While we strive to make the experience of dealing at our establishment a comfortable one on occasion we fail to do so-even when we give the parties exactly what they want.

Well I have to say I was in the store when all this happened and the rude man owner was RUDE! Julia was helping us and the other couple at the same time. That's when the rude guy gave Julia heck and told her to pay attention after she made the mistake...BUT...he also made a rude comment about us...Rude owner told Julia to pay attention and not worry about making a trivial sale to us..Like we meant nothing to him...I'll have you know Mr. Rude we spent a lot of money in your store and also did spend more than you think that day. So Julia, as you have in the past....don't make excuses for the rude owner of this store..The people that came in were treated rude by him!!! I also don't shop at this store anymore cause 1. the rude owner 2. was ripped off on silver by 30.00 discrepancy. Northgate Coin was 30.00 cheaper. Julia would not make me happy with honoring the same price! So there for Kensington Coin lost our business forever!!!! Shop around before you buy! JMO

Just have to say what a nice lady we dealt with today. Julia was very nice and she sure knows her business very well. We knew nothing about our coins, she was very patient with us and explained everything to us.We wouldn't hesitate to take our business to her again.

I visited this store a few months ago to inquire about selling some banknotes and met this pleasant old lady. I give her credit for being honest with me on the bills and showing me respect by not making a low ball offer. She seems to really enjoy the hobby which is a good quality in a dealer. I wound up buying a morgan dollar after business was concluded at melt value and was satisfied.

Here's where things go bad. Remembering my pleasant experience I decide to give them a shot with selling some of my bullion to them. That respect shown at my first visit faded away real fast. I was offered a very low ball offer. I understand this since they run a business. To her credit the old lady was still pleasant but failed to talk about what they paid per gram of silver. If she did this she would not have wasted her time or mine. What made matters worse is the other owner who was a bit of an asshole showed up to look at some numismatic coins I was also selling. I didn't like the price they offered and he insulted me when I decided we couldn't do business. I don't know if it was a bad day or what but I am now left with a negative impression of this shop. Communication like the first time would saved a lot trouble and I would have bought from them in the future. After this experience I am staying clear of this coin shop. There are enough dealers in Edmonton and Alberta who know how to communicate effectively.

We try to be as helpful and forthright with all who visit our store unfortunately we cannot please everyone. This 'review' warrants a response for accuracy.
This person is not a collector or hobbyist as represented. He is what is known in the coin business as a "Vest Pocket" dealer. Most are pleasant and professional in their dealings but some, such as this fellow take up a great deal of time 'fishing' for prices yet do very little actual business with the store. That on previous visits as he himself stated he purchased only one Silver Dollar at melt (the price we sell to our refiner for) is evidence of that. This is fine, provided as 'dealers' they extend normal professional courtesy while in our store and do not interfere with our regular business or be disruptive on the premises. This person was being both loud and rather obnoxious, disturbing several other customers. After spending an inordinate amount of time with this person trying to conclude a transaction we simply grew tired of his overall comportment and gave his items back-including those he had already agreed to sell and asked him to leave.
It is unfortunate that we were unable to accommodate this person however given he is purporting to be a coin dealer with some degree of knowledge the transaction should happen quickly or not at all. We do a number of weekly transactions quickly and professionally with other such dealers who are of a more serious nature. His disrespectful reference to myself as the "old lady" and the profanity used in his comments say much about his 'review'
We simply lack the time to cater to such difficult people and do not.

Question? Are we all wrong about the very rude owner at Kensington Coin? Gee... how could we all have the same experience... and be all difficult people? I think the truth has been written. Owner... do yourself a favor and stay home... let the "young" lady run the show if you want repeat customers! Then she won't have to cover for your attitude anger problem.

I recently started collecting coins. I had some old coins I needed to "save". Rose was helpful in getting me started. With the great prices here and something for everyone even the starter, I totally recommend this store. Rose the lady behind the counter has some of the best customer service that she should almost teach a course. Can't say enough about this store.

It seems we are confirming what we read about Julia but after our dealings with her we felt we too would relate our experience. My husband and I are a pair of self-admitted hoarders and over the years have accumulated a large amount of stamps, coins, jewellry and on and on. However we are moving from Hinton to BC and realized just how much we had as we were packing:) After a few calls to Edmonton dealers and some on-line research we settled on Kensington. We had an excellent initial discussion and set up a time to haul everything in to her. There was a lot of boxes! Julia was both polite and knowledgeable, a rare combination nowadays. At our age, manners matter as much as money. She took the time to explain anything we were unfamiliar with and found her prices to be fair. Julia is very polite but forthright about the fact that she is running a business and needs to make money as well. Again, that type of honesty and courtesy is refreshing. We sold almost everything we brought to her and came home very pleased. Highly recommend this store.

I decided to sell my coin & stamp collection and julia was the only dealer I contacted who was polite on the phone. That was enough for me. I'm old fashioned and manners matter to me so I hauled everything over to her and wasn't disappointed. She's patient and knowledgable. Was very satisfied with the price I got. No hesitation reccommending this store.

My buddy and I were looking for paper money and came upon this little store. Initially we only saw a small amount displayed-all beyond our budget. I asked the owner Julia if that was all she had. She pulled out several envelopes of exactly our kind of stuff. We both went slightly over our budgets but got some great deals:) If you don't see what you're looking for just ask, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

My mother decided to sell her very large stamp collection and Julia spent several hours with us going through the sample box we had brought with us. Some other dealers couldn't even be bothered to look at it before offering a price on the ENTIRE collection!?! Though it took several trips over 2 days and the better part of an evening and her store is somewhat out of the way it was well worth it. Very patient and polite and paid us on the spot. Thanks Julia!

When we decided to sell our fathers coin collection we called several local coin dealers as we had no knowledge whatsover. Julia was the only dealer who was willing to take the time to tell us the very basics on the phone. Her courtesy and knowledge saved us a great deal of time in sorting through the collection and determining which items to bring into her to sell. In person she was fantastic and helped us over several weeks.
