Starbucks Coffee, Toronto Reviews (3)
With the exception of one tall, young man I've had terrible service at this location! So much so that I stopped going even though it's much closer to my home than the Second Cup up the street which is where I now go.
But back to Starbucks...on one occasion I asked for a baked good from the cabinet and the young Asian man was so rude, he didn't speak to me, didn't look at me, pratically threw my food in the bag and then slid it onto the counter - like I wasn't even there.
On other occasions I found equally bad service from the female staff making the drinks. Once, when I got the pretentious names for the cup sizes mixed up, I was treated with such condescension that it was then I decided never to return.
To top off the bad service, their food is often stale, the coffee tasted burned on more than one occasion, and it's not a nice atmosphere. There's only one comfortable upholstered chair, the heat is up too high, the bathrooms were always dirty, and the staff are a bunch of kids who are, quite frankly, rude. Twice, I was notified that they were closing in 10 minutes, so I should leave! I spent many years in the restaurant business working my way through University, and I wouldn't dream of asking the 'hand that fed me' to leave!
Second Cup, (1 block west) is not only a friendly, family-run business, it has a nicer atmosphere with a fireplace and many comfortable chairs - but they also don't charge an arm and a leg for what is actually better-tasting coffee! Best of all, my first time there I saw them sweeping up and realized they'd be closing soon, so I began to pack up my computer, when the owner told me not to hurry that I was welcome to stay since he would be working for awhile anyway. Now that's hospitality! that's the difference when an adult not only runs his business, but truly enjoys it!

I once asked for a straw, for my coffee and the girl looked at me sighed, grabbed a straw and threw it on the counter :) can you believe that! The second cup down the street really goes the extra mile for it's customers.
I've never had a bad experience... guess I go there a lot because b4 I even order they know what I want and it's practically on the table already! Very friendly staff!
The staff in this location is ubearable!! ok not all of them that's not fair, but at least 1/2 of them. Particularly this one girl always gives bad looks, is very unhappy with her life and lets her face tell everyone
.. and the other day she FLICKED a straw at me! loloool
She got all flustered cuz i asked her for a large straw in the so obviously busy time when she was preparing another order that came after me ... watch out!! and bring protective eye wear ;-)
OK i love their vanilla lattes & the chilled ice teas. Also the yogurt parfait with berries & granola on top is unbelievable and very addictive ..
