Hi.
I am new in Canada.
My Husband has undergone a surgery from Sunnybrook today and I have requested for prescribed drugs from my nearest Rexall Plus Drugmart (#2055).
My Experience has been horrible with this. The Pharmacist could not give me one required drug (Colace ICOmg po BID), neither confirmed when can I come to return to collect the same. I was advised to collect it from other stores such as Shoppers Drug mart etc., and my prescription was kept.
Despite telling repeated times that I do not have any Drug Plans etc. and was ready to pay whatever is needed by cash, I was not even attended beyond this point. The lady wrote name of the medicine in paper and asked me to get it from other stores such as Shoppers Drug Mart.
I am from Asia (India), and this is not an usual practice there. And I was not even aware about the policies in Canada. Hence I asked for the prescription back so that I could go ahead and take this medicine from other drug stores. At this point I was misbehaved by the concerned staff because her "time was over". I was literally driven away from the store, without answers.
I am writing because of this particular apathy. I did not know the Drug rules out here in Canada, and I was to take care of my husband who was in pain right after surgery. Till now, I haven't got either the prescription returned nor the assurance that when can the particular medicine can be picked up.
After doing some research online I learn that its a medicine which can be purchased over the counter. This information alone could have helped me a lot..

Also, I need your honest opinion on whether as lone attendant of my husband I asked for any extraordinary services. I just needed to know when can I come back to collect the medicine, or needed the prescription back (based on my experience in another continent). After the surgery has taken place (almost 20 hours from now), my Husband is yet to take the first set of medicines!
I have called this store in Rexall, and they disconnected the phone after keeping me on hold. I certainly do not deserve this treatment.
