Canada's Tim Horton's has managed to sucessfully cross the border with locations in the US while Krispy Kream has had to close up shop in Canada. I live in Perth, Western Australia and when people fly in from Melbourne they bring Krispy Kream donuts(can't get them here in WA). People here rave about them.
I finally tasted them today. I now know why Tim Horton's does so well in the US AND in Canada. They are simply the best.

America has baseball and Apple Pie so Canada has Hockey and Tim Hortons. Even the giants - Dunkin Donuts, Krispy Kream - they crumble in the face of Tims.
It's a national obsession. Tims could serve Tacos and we would stand in line. It must be mind control.

As a Bostonian, I must say that Dunkin Donuts is far superior to Tim Horton's. First of all, iced coffee is a concept that no coffee shop in this country seems to be able to wrap their head around. Second, Dunkin Donuts coffee is just better. Read: more caffine, more addictive, much tastier.
After 3 years in this country I have slowly been getting myself used to Tim's, but Dunkin Donuts will always be my first love.

It's been too long since my last coffee and not too long since my last doughnut. Nothing could ever stop me from idolizing Timmies, I think it is mind control.

I realize that Tim Hortens is popular in Canada, but is it due to lack of strong competetion? The donuts don't hold up to Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme by a long shot. Are we confusing supporting Canadian businesses (which are also in the States now as well) and actual good quality products? Maybe it's just a choice of taste buds.

EVERYONE loved Timmies... well I definatly do and start my day everyday with a large double double, even if I make it at home.
There new breafast sandwiches are also quite addictive... I recommend the sausage bagel on a plain bael toasted Mmmmmm
