Wish we could post a 0 rating. This seller is sketchy. He posted an auction on eBay for a 2005 Ford Excursion (Item# 274348634365), and we needed a family car, since we just sold our Escape to get a bigger truck...so we advised the seller that we will have CarChex come out and do an inspection before we buy, we order a 179.95 inspection for the sake of our family and buying sight unseen over eBay. It was a verbal agreement pending inspection for purchase. On Wednesday 4/29, he gives me a call that the inspection was fine, and the guy seemed to be a bum who inspected the car. We advised we were waiting on the report to send over the funds. The inspector posted the report on 4/30, and we were satisfied thus far, and we move to buy now on eBay. We get confirmation that we bought the car (attached). Furthermore we are charged $500 for a deposit immediately. That same evening, we get a followup call by him, stating that he was apologetic and had a customer already place a deposit on the truck, supposedly he said it was listed for weeks and now he had us two...and was going to purchase today (5/1) by 5 PM. If not he would finish our sale. What the heck? 1) We had a verbal arrangement to inspect and purchase the vehicle (and he mentioned no need of placing any deposit when we spoke to him, which we would have gladly done.) 2) We entered into a legal contractual agreement on eBay to purchase the vehicle which supersedes a local sale at this point. He just sold it out from underneath us, when he had a legal obligation to deliver said vehicle. He should have held off altogether in accepting any deposits, unless they wanted to buy before we won the auction. However he could have easily conceded to the local purchaser that he was under a legal obligation to sell it to the eBay buyer and that he would refund his deposit at this point...what is difficult about this? Instead he told us to wait until 5 PM today to "see" if this guy was intent on purchasing the car, like we were just interested...and not invested. Like second class buyers when we could have easily paid cash. I offered him for good measure another $200 to offset the difficulties in turning away the local buyer.

All this tells us he didn't want to deal with us...sorry, do not use eBay. We had never had a troublesome purchase on eBay with vehicles until now.

Every step of the way we were patient, communicative, and ready to purchase, and even offered more, directly. It saddens us that he treats people like this. Oh, he did offer us another truck, we politely declined. I do not want to do business where: A) they do not honor their legal contracts or commitments or B) do not make good eBay sellers. It should not matter if we are across the country or local. Do not screw your buyers.

We have seen their advertisement and got to call as we were looking where we could purchase good and quality cars even though they were just second hand. Stanley (owner) was very nice, he answers all our queries and gives us some ideas about the cars that they were selling. The good thing also they had want we want in a car. We have seen the actual car and checked it for a test drive and after that we purchased it and got the papers processed and in no time we had the papers and our new vehicle in just half a day.
