Black Camel is a cafe and sandwich bar. We sold our first sandwich in July 2004. The goal of Black Camel is simple: to prepare good tasting, high quality food, to deliver it quickly and to price it

If you appreciate a business that limits its focus to one thing and executes it with absolute, uncompromising perfection, Black Camel is mandatory. Sitting right across from Rosedale subway station, this compact counter-serve operation has been quietly slinging some of the finest slow-roasted meat sandwiches in Toronto since 2004 with zero fluff, zero wasted space & zero unnecessary menu bloat.

There are no waiters, no elaborate place settings & very little indoor seating. You walk up to the counter, pick your meat base, choose your sauces and toppings & watch a well-oiled machine assemble a top-tier sandwich right in front of you.

Tucked away in a corner off Yonge midtown is a nice vibey sandwich shop. Love the design and atmosphere. Got the famous brisket sandwich and they recommended BBQ sauce and caramelized onions. It's good, quite simple few ingredients done right. It is quite expensive as it all came down to $20 so I wish there was more to it. Butter tarts look amazing so def have to give that a try next time.

Brisket sandwich with caramelized onions and horseradish mayo was phenomenal! Kind of messy to eat, a bit expensive since none of the sauces and toppings are included in the price (and the sandwich tastes plain without)

One of the best sandwich spots in the city. The sandwiches are packed with flavor, made with quality ingredients, and always taste fresh. The brisket, and BLT are all outstanding, with tender meat and delicious sauces that bring everything together. Seating is limited, but the food is absolutely worth the visit. Highly recommend!

I pass by Black Camel all the time and finally made my way in for a sandwich. The steak sandwich is great. Meat is perfectly cooked and great portion. The bun is fresh. I had the house BBQ sauce, it’s very flavorful, next time I’d ask them to go light on the sauce. There’s not much space inside, perfect for grab and go

came for lunch on a weekday; busy but fast service. at 20$ a sandwich i’m surprised how big and filling it actually was. took the advice of another reviewer here who said to get the brisket with bbq and charamoula + tomatoes + chili red onions + fortunate cheese. amazing combo. i ate it at home with a fork and knife 40 mins later and it wasn’t messy this way + still amazing.

Picked up a veggie sandwich yesterday. It was all sauce with a tiny bit of vegetables, including eggplant, which we could not even find in the sandwich. Paid $14.00 for a delicious bun and a whole bunch of sauce. I know it's known for its pulled pork and brisket, but this was really terrible and disappointing.

One of the oldest and best sandwich places in the city. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and the quality and consistency has never faltered.

It’s so refreshing that they’re still pumping out such good, classic sandwiches in an era where so many Toronto sandwich spots are just chasing whatever the latest sandwich trend is. Also, Black Camel prices are better than all those places anyway.

Black Camel is an OG for a reason. Keep supporting them!

Pretty good sandwiches, the club blt + chicken is ok, though i would prefer a stronger bacon flavor and pesto sauce flavor, as for the signature slow cooked brisket, tender and juicy for sure, the flavor mostly comes from the bbq sauce though. Overall not bad

Been enjoying their beef brisket sandwiches for over 10 years now. Just returned after a long hiatus and grateful to see that they still got it

My toppings:
- charamoula mayo (free)
- black camel BBQ sauce (free)
- Roma tomatoes ($1.10)
- chili red onions ($1.10)
- fontina cheese ($1.10)

It’s a sloppy sandwich, but don’t get it twisted, it goes in

Quality takeout spot, so good that my firm occasionally does bulk lunch orders. A lot of people go for the beef brisket sandwich but I think the hidden gem is the seared steak sandwich. Recommend you add a couple of veggie toppings which will elevate the flavor profile, and grab a side of coleslaw.

A delicious roasted veggie sandwich in a quiet environment ended my day on a positive note. Also, super clean washroom added to the positive experience.

I ordered the beef biscuit sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was crowded, but I was surprised that the service only took about three minutes!

Always a pleasant experience, the best beef brisket sandwich in town, hands down. They used to warm up the bread in the early days which made it even yummier, but these days they use room temperature bread. I wish they could warm it up to make a 6 star sandwich
