I was really unimpressed with the selection of clothing, as all of it seemed way over priced and there were far too many items that were damaged or in terrible condition. I found a pair of jeans that had a large hole just under the zipper - something I'd expect even a thrift store not to accept. The over-all quality doesn't live up to the title of "consignment", the kind of second-hand store where I'd expect to find things in good condition. Brands I'm familiar with had prices that were equal to or more expensive than if you were to purchase them knew. Additionally, the service was very unprofessional, as the cashier/(owner?) was taking personal calls the entire time I was there. I was made to wait to pay for the two items I was willing to pay the price for while she gabbed with a friend who'd come in for a visit about a topic very inappropriate for the workplace. I don't plan on returning.

Waste of time if you want them to look at your clothes. Last three times i have brought in a bag of clothes. And some pretty nice ones with tags still on them. She took a brief few minutes to look through the bags and said she did't need anymore at this time.

Early Monday afternoon I took time out of my studying (because I wanted to get this over with before the holidays) and went to Leche's- a 30min bus trip from my house with two huge and heavy bags to consign. When I arrived, who I assumed to be the owner was having a loud conversation with what sounded like a close friend. I was greeted by an employee who was nice enough. She told me to set my bags down and to have a look around- while the owner continued her socializing. I guess that is more important than business. While I awaited- for probably nearly 10 minutes- two more ladies came in with their own things. No one was shopping- I guess because buyers are well aware of the ridiculous prices; $38 for a pair of clearly used Toms! And $23 for a used no name maxi skirt! I wouldn't be purchasing anything. Finally, my turn came after she riffled through what was probably 30 items, in just a few minutes, while still entertaining her friend in conversation. She approached me saying "I am going to say thank you- but I don't need anything." Okay fair enough- you decide what you do or don't need, but I brought shirts of all types, jeans, sweaters, dresses- and you don't need anything?? She justified her decision saying she is overstocked and "it's a seasonal thing". I find that funny because if you visit their Facebook website, they clearly advertise that they are happy to accept all seasons and all types of clothes! AND- I had called in advance to ask if they were accepting clothing and they said yes, come on down. So why, if you are overstocked, wouldn't you update the website saying that you're full, and stop welcoming customers drop offs? Overall, I felt uncomfortable in the store and I was extremely disappointed with the fact she didn't accept ANYTHING, despite all the claims that made me think otherwise. Needless to say, I will not be going back.

I recently visited Leche for shopping only so I can't speak to selling items there. I was a little surprised at the merchandise assortment. Shelves were stocked full of hoodies and well worn items. Items were not steamed and sweaters, which I was looking for, were covered in pills. Pricing wasn't too bad, although considering their condition, I was not willing to pay the prices listed. I left without buying anything and wouldn't likely go back even though the staff was friendly. If Aritzia, Billabong, Roxy, Hurley and Gap are your go to brands, you probably will enjoy the store.

I have been to several consignment stores in Victoria. This one has the best stuff in my opinion and also took most of the items I brought in.
Owner is super nice, even though she just had a baby about a week ago, she agreed to meet me there and qlook at my clothes.
She pays upfront cash or you can get store credit. I got ok value and walked away with two items.
Very happy with the approach. Nicest stuff ever.
I absolutely disagree with the negative reviews. I am both, a customer and a consignment "trader" and this was the best service I ever got. (On the contrary to my sisters closet for example, which looks like a bad second hand store and the owner was so rude that I just walked away.)
Definitely recommend Leche. But be careful. U might walk away with more clothes :)

I purchased a number of terrific items for just over $100. It's terrific to have a second hand store that expresses my own style! Even if I don't get the chance to consign the items I'd like, when I'd like (I have yet to try), I am pleased with my purchases.
I found the owner and her friends friendly and encouraging. It's a different sort of environment where the owner can visit with her friends and I enjoyed the small town feel of it.
To anyone thinking about checking it out... do! I'm one pleased customer :)

I have been here 3 times over the past couple of years with clothing/shoes and all 3 times they haven't taken a thing (brand name, good quality items). Reasons vary from too much stock to we already have these items. Staff can be friendly at times but mostly seem disinterested.

I do like the idea of "selling" the items rather than consigning them but it is inconvenient having to drop items off and then call a few days later about them and then re-attend to pick them up when they don't want anything.

Don't think I will bother here again. There are other places in town that I have had much better luck with.

To correct the two bad reviews .
Ive been bringing my stuff to Leches for years and the service is great. The problem is that ALL consignment stores cant take everything you bring! and they sure as hell cant pay you what you paid for your clothes new! The owner pays you 30-50% of that she will re sell it for. Like come on -- when you walk into a used clothing store are you going to pay 200$ for a pair of 200$ pair of jeans .. no your going to pay ninety or so .. and in case you missed math class, 30% is 27$! If you want to get what she gets for your cloths .. sell it yourself (thats what your paying her that portion to do.. sell your stuff) This is how all consignment stores work and if you try going to my sisters closet or most of the other used clothing stores in victoria they only take free cloths or they wont take your stuff unless its literally unworn!(AND they do real consignment so if your stuff doesnt sell you dont get ANYthing but a bigger waste of time then people say leches is) As for the social aspect of the store, dont you think its nice to see small business owners socializing with costumers .. grow up and stop being intimidated .. or say excuse me to the people standing by the jewelery! bottom line.. i know ALOT of people who agree with me and yah shes going to turn your stuff down sometimes (and in the one review.. hello, she told you to bring it back in a few months, how is that rude!) ANYWAYs . reality check people.

I had heard not-so-good reviews about this store, and even read the one posted here. I decided to give them a call anyhow- the store person(I think owner) answered and sounded pleasant enough. I asked about their policy for accepting clothing to which she explained that she pays cash for items and not to worry about season, etc.....as things turn over quickly. I packed a laundry hamper full of items(all decent brand name: Diesel jeans, london fly shoes, Club Monaco cashmere items, Smoking Lily, Smith Sunglasses, etc...) and headed down. Parked the car(which isn't too easy unless there happens to be a space right out front). I went in to check if now was a good time to bring my items in, and she said it was. She didn't ask me to, but told me to look around while she visited with a friend about baby car seats while going through my items. When she was done looking through, she said my stuff was great but that she had all of it already???? and that I could bring it back in a few months. When I said that I wished she told me on the phone, she said how would she know what I was bringing. If it's so specific, then why not say: I'm not taking brand name jeans, barley worn shoes, cashmere, blouses, diesel or sitka hoodies, never worn converse shoes. Get the point? OK, I get that you can't possibly take everything every time-but, with a call ahead and the prompting not to worry about season one might start to wonder just what she thought I may be bringing that she wouldn't have????? Anyhow, what a waste of time. Should have listened to the previous review and chose someone with at least a good review to start or saved myself the frustration and time not bothered at all.

I have sold several thing to this consignment store over the years and kept going back because of the convenience. The system they have of consigning is definitely quicker than most others', however, the attitude of the people who work there is consistently rotten. They act catty and almost as if you bringing in clothing is a burden upon their day and they couldn't be bothered. If you are expecting friendly service, from Leche's you will be highly disappointed.

I'm interested in selling some clothing to this establishment, do you have any words of advice of how I should approach it. Especially seeing as it is indeed true that the women at Leche's aren't always the friendliest. How do you usually sell it to them? Call ahead first? Show up, and bargain...like I said it's my first time selling clothing.

Hi Ladylue, I would actually suggest that you dont even bother trying to sell your stuff with them. I have given up on consignment all together because for the amount they are selling your stuff for, they only give you a fraction, and youre not even left with enough money to cover your wasted time spent and your gas/transportation costs. I suggest advertising some of your key items on usedvictoria, craigslist, take a couple pictures, price out what you think would be fair and see what happens! You never know what could come up. Ebay is also an option. If you have some stuff that you wouldnt mind donating to charity like big-brothers/sisters, salvation army etc. you could take that route with the less expensive stuff.

All in all, the method that Leche's uses for buying/selling/trading is the most convenient. However, considering how ridiculously picky they are, the amount of attitude you get when you walk in the door, and the small amount of money you do end up with, I dont think its worth your precious time!

Good luck!

So I went. I tried. I failed.
Both of these reviews were totally right.
I fought my way for a parking space, lugged all my great conditioned clothes into the store, then was TOLD to look around as she briskly looked through my huge bag of great brand names, and great quality items, before she stuffed them rudely back into the bag. (they were folded nicely when I gave them to her)
AND I understand she just had a baby, but having three mothers in there all with strollers sitting around the counter is super intimidating. I couldn't even look at any of the jewelry.
I don't mind the owner all that much, but her friends (and there big mouths) need to get the hell out of her store. It's crowed enough as it is.
So yeah, not a great experience at all-such a hassle, with no end result other then frustration, and really just plain being pissed off.
